Microsoft Outlook Storage Message - reducing from 15GB to 5GB

Hi, starting today a pink bar at the top of my outlook page stating 'From February 1st, you'll need more storage to send or receive emails.' then provides 2 links to 'Manage Storage' & 'Get More Storage'. There is a second window bottom left hand side stating in red font 'Microsoft Storage' '14.6GB used of 5GB (292%)' 'Get More Storage'. What is going on? I've had this account for 10 + years.

no. i talked to them via chat (three different operators and only managed to get an ambiguous answer on the third attempt...) and the red message turns out to be a dishonest operation to charge for space you don't need. if you have 15 gb of space on your account and you have nothing on onedrive, you will have 15 go of space for your emails even if you get the message. just disregard it. microsoft is really becoming a ridiculous company... I will switch to gmail.

    ..

I clicked somewhere to get out of the thread the other day, but I still receive notifications. And guess what! those fill my storage space as well LOL.

How can I make this thread stop coming to my email?

    Thank you

    And another interesting point is:

if I go to my OneDrive (that I never asked for) it has a folder called Attachments. But that folder has mere three small files in it... So if my attachments are counted towards OneDrive storage, where are they???

that's lame! attachments are APART of the emails. dumb. just a way to gouge to people. very sad. 15gb of mail storage should encompass any and all part of the emails.
