Outlook Task List / Todo list is no where to be found in the NEW Outlook Desktop.

OKAY, So I was offered to try out the new outlook desktop today and to be honest I'm in love with the new look.

In addition to being able to now PIN important emails to the top, it also now seems to integrate with Gmail to import and save all of your contacts !!, Another feature that has been missing from outlook forever !!

Anyways, Microsoft and all their wisdom seems to remove functionality or break stuff whenever they think they're fixing and it appears now that the tasks / todo list is nowhere to be found...

MS pointed me to support article that specifically says that they do still have tasks / to-do and that it has been relocated to (MY DAY) Top right hand corner, But there is no tab that says Todo as stated in their support article... see my attached screen shot..

according to the Microsoft article there should be a tab right next to the calendar tab --

I only use Gmail accounts. I do not use my Microsoft account as my default email provider ... So I'm concerned that the reason why the to-do list isn't showing up for me is because perhaps Gmail doesn't support this functionality (and or) the new outlook can't integrate with Gmail properly...

Please help.

    Quick update, I just received in my post a response:

    Welcome to our forum!

    Unfortunately, the Task feature in New Outlook for Windows is very different from the Legacy Outlook. I'm afraid you need to turn off New Outlook button to switch back to Legacy Outlook to meet your current needs.

    To get this feature more quickly, I have found a feedback on the website dedicated to collecting feedback and you could vote for it. Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. You can also make suggestions on that website and hope Microsoft will notice this in the future.

    I have also discovered that the new outlook will not work if you are not connected to the internet. All in all i cannot see a reason to migrate away from the old outlook. I absolutely have to work off line on occasion but still need to refer to emails etc. I live in a third world country and connection to internet is not prevalent.

    If your email account is not a microsoft live account or outlook account it seems you will not be able to get the functionality. I had both an outlook account @outlook.com account which got through my office 365 subscription. When you go to settings, email, manage accounts i changed my primary account to the outlook account and the the todo list then appeared. If you do not have such an account it looks like it will not work. This could either be a strategy to force users onto the microsoft email accounts or a bug. Who knows? My point is if your email address is not as stated above you may have to wait for an answer on if its a bug or deliberate.

    Yes, unfortunately Bug Or intentional it looks like Microsoft is attempting to push us to use an outlook or live email address in order to get full functionality.

    It also could just be a bug, As previously stated considering the email address that I'm currently using is a Gmail address.. however when you register for Microsoft services or when you register for Microsoft account you are given the option to create a new email address or use your current one, in this case when I created my Microsoft account I used my Gmail address instead of creating a new one ... So technically my Gmail address is my Microsoft account it's just not an outlook or live .com .....

    I guess we will have to wait and see but for the meantime I have switched back to the old outlook because I absolutely cannot live without the task and reminder functionality ... It keeps me organized for business purposes.

    Just so there is no misunderstanding, this is why we are so angry and frustrated; they are not taking care of us and allowing strangers to do so instead. Thank you Jennifer. They are monsters. Thanks for being an Angel.

    We need direct instructions for how to turn off the new outlook button. Desktop Outlook.

    I am experiencing a work stop. My call center cannot operate without Tasks. We are a legacy customer with all of our history in there.
