Outlook Task List / Todo list is no where to be found in the NEW Outlook Desktop.

OKAY, So I was offered to try out the new outlook desktop today and to be honest I'm in love with the new look.

In addition to being able to now PIN important emails to the top, it also now seems to integrate with Gmail to import and save all of your contacts !!, Another feature that has been missing from outlook forever !!

Anyways, Microsoft and all their wisdom seems to remove functionality or break stuff whenever they think they're fixing and it appears now that the tasks / todo list is nowhere to be found...

MS pointed me to support article that specifically says that they do still have tasks / to-do and that it has been relocated to (MY DAY) Top right hand corner, But there is no tab that says Todo as stated in their support article... see my attached screen shot..

according to the Microsoft article there should be a tab right next to the calendar tab --

I only use Gmail accounts. I do not use my Microsoft account as my default email provider ... So I'm concerned that the reason why the to-do list isn't showing up for me is because perhaps Gmail doesn't support this functionality (and or) the new outlook can't integrate with Gmail properly...

Please help.

    I have been using Windows Mail with a MS App for To Do, which worked for my needs. I tried the "New Outlook" previously and was not impressed. As of yesterday, Jun 17, 2024, MS now forces the use of New Outlook when you open Windows Mail.

    Although a "My Day" button is available in the top right corner, with a "To Do" tab available:

    You are not able to "Open To Do" to manage your tasks. Attempts to open a separate Window, however just spinning circle!

    I use a Gmail account as my primary email account. If I set my primary account to my @outlook.com account, which I have only for recovery, the functionality is fine. It even puts the "To Do" icon in the left margin. However,, I do not want to use my @outlook.com as my primary account.

    Any suggestions, that have not been presented on this thread in the last year.

    As previously stated, Microsoft is not interested in supporting Gmail email addresses and they would rather you migrate to their own outlook domains.

    This is the reason why they will probably never fix this issue and everybody using outlook that has a Gmail account will be forced back over to Thunderbird.

    MS in their "infinite wisdom" has made it so that only oulook.com email addresses have access to To-Do now.

    A work around for tasks if you are flagging an email as a task or To-Do is to pin the email and it will stick to the top of your list. This is acceptable if you only have a few pinned but more than 2 or 3 and it becomes messy. We really need the To-Do tasks opened back up.

    Looks like Email Rules for automatic sorting is also missing unless you have an Outlook.com address.

    Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

    These are seriously some of the most stupid changes ever.

    I don't even have an outlook.com address as my 365 account is setup using my Gmail account.

    Wow, what a shame. I was planning to use Microsoft apps as the bridge between my apple devices, my PC, and my Gmail account (which is what I use for email). Seeing all the learnings you have shared, knowing that ToDo (which is a very important feature set for me) will be exclusive to outlook.com emails, I will now uninstall all my Microsoft apps from all my devices (wherever possible), and will just rely on Google apps that get me pretty close to what I need. Too bad, because Microsoft was doing a good job.

    This probably means Microsoft will lose me for documents, spreadsheets, etc. as well.

    Bye Microsoft - you have really disappointed me.

    what happened to jennifer? She was giving me good laugh as she continually misunderstood your issue and kept reposting useless links. Nice that's she ahs volunteered to help others, just may not be the right person for the job. People are already frustrated by the app, and to have it thrown in your face again in a support forum is not helpful
