Outlook Task List / Todo list is no where to be found in the NEW Outlook Desktop.

OKAY, So I was offered to try out the new outlook desktop today and to be honest I'm in love with the new look.

In addition to being able to now PIN important emails to the top, it also now seems to integrate with Gmail to import and save all of your contacts !!, Another feature that has been missing from outlook forever !!

Anyways, Microsoft and all their wisdom seems to remove functionality or break stuff whenever they think they're fixing and it appears now that the tasks / todo list is nowhere to be found...

MS pointed me to support article that specifically says that they do still have tasks / to-do and that it has been relocated to (MY DAY) Top right hand corner, But there is no tab that says Todo as stated in their support article... see my attached screen shot..

according to the Microsoft article there should be a tab right next to the calendar tab --

Here is the link for the MS article.--Use My Day in Outlook - Microsoft Support

I only use Gmail accounts. I do not use my Microsoft account as my default email provider ... So I'm concerned that the reason why the to-do list isn't showing up for me is because perhaps Gmail doesn't support this functionality (and or) the new outlook can't integrate with Gmail properly...

Please help.

I have been using Windows Mail with a MS App for To Do, which worked for my needs. I tried the "New Outlook" previously and was not impressed. As of yesterday, Jun 17, 2024, MS now forces the use of New Outlook when you open Windows Mail.

Although a "My Day" button is available in the top right corner, with a "To Do" tab available:

You are not able to "Open To Do" to manage your tasks. Attempts to open a separate Window, however just spinning circle!

I use a Gmail account as my primary email account. If I set my primary account to my @outlook.com account, which I have only for recovery, the functionality is fine. It even puts the "To Do" icon in the left margin. However,, I do not want to use my @outlook.com as my primary account.

Any suggestions, that have not been presented on this thread in the last year.

    Thanks.

Same issue for me - new install of Outlook - which worked fine and Tasks visible. Then I clicked the 'New Outlook' - and imported all settings - but no tasks visible in new outlook.

Tried doing the 'import settings from Outlook for Windows' in Settings -> Accounts -> Email accounts which someone suggested working - but no change.

I will have to go back to old Outlook as I rely on tasks.

Has anyone found a solution yet?

This was so helpful thank you!

Based on this comment, in the new outlook I opened "email accounts" under settings, then "manage" on whichever is the mail email account. There's a spot that says "Import settings from Outlook for Windows" with a "Get Started" button, that pulled in all my settings from the old outlook including the task view. Yay!

Tested and resolved using this article:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/switch-from-new-outlook-2023-to-classic-outlook/0a2a8f02-7088-49e2-97d8-7642486be5c4

Start looking into PSAs today. Find a new suite of products as your business grows. MS is less and less friendly and without an upgrade path you will likely lose all your legacy data in desktop tasks anyway. So just get away now. I tried all their suggestions. None of them took attachments etc. With window supdates being so haphazard in impacting operations you are better off taking command and control over your managed environment than allowing them to continue to side blind you with 'features' that interrupt ops.
