Please stop treating us like idiots. When we say we have not changed anything, that is what we mean. This has just started happening on my Office Professional 2016. Someone in Microsoft has changed something to allow this infuriating behavour. Please find out how this can be turned off.

    Thanks, Karl.

The pop-up occurs on the Inbox window of my Outlook 365 email account. This account is on my desktop which is using Windows 10.

This just stated to happen about a week ago. To my knowledge, nothing was done in Outlook that might have caused these pop-ups.

The pop-up wants me to sign-in to a Yahoo account, and then allow that account to be the one I would use to access my Outlook account.

I have had two Yahoo email accounts. Neither email account is configured in Outlook 365.

In an attempt to stop the pop-ups, I closed both of my Yahoo email accounts today. Apparently, however, it will be about 30 days for these accounts to be removed from Yahoo's servers.

A screen shot of the pop-up window is shown below.

    Thanks for our help.

Outlook probably automatically changed your incoming and outgoing mail settings from verizon.net to yahoo.com ... at least, that's what I found when I started getting these pop-ups yesterday.

This is what I did... maybe it will work for you.

1.) UNCHECK the "Stay signed in" box on the yahoo! pop-up and "x" out. (Do this to every Yahoo! pop-up box that pops up.) Once the pop-up boxes have stopped popping up...

2.) Go to File (in your account shown above) and navigate to "Server Settings" (as Karl explained... not sure how to get you there if it's different. I see basically same headings as Karl shows when I click on account settings.) Click on "Server Settings" you should get a pop-up box with your "Incoming" and "Outgoing" mail server info.

3.) On the pop-up box find the box for "Server" for your Incoming Mail .... see if it has yahoo.com in that box. If it does, change the yahoo.com to verizon.net (your email server/provider). Note: Don't change anything else.

4.) ... in the same pop-up box you should see Outgoing Mail expand this (click down arrow) find the "Server" box and do the same as above... change yahoo.com to verizon.net (your email server/provider). Note: Don't change anything else.

    5.) Click "Next"

You should get a pop-up box "updating your account" with this info. Then another one (if successful) saying "Account successfully updated!"

6.) Click "DONE" ... you should get an test email from Microsoft Outlook to make sure you are receiving email to your inbox.

Hopefully, this will work for you... Good luck!

I fixed the problem in 2019 Outlook Office. Change the in and out email server settings on each email address from Yahoo.com to att.net.

I certainly agree that it would be helpful to find the cause and the fix for this problem. I have spent several hours on line and on the phone and have not found a solution. When I have had technical issues in the past, I have found several times that the problem is known at the "corporate" level, but the information was not passed down to the technical people who deal with customers. The customer service technical people are usually very courteous and try to fix a problem, but sometimes they have not been informed by their company of the problem and the solution. Internal communications within some companies seems to be a real problem. My solution to date for this problem is to just keep clicking on the red "X" to close the pop-ups for a brief time, and hope that eventually the problem will mysteriously disappear in the same fashion as it arouse.
