My Outlook (O365) and many others is constantly freezing. We are in online mode due to accessing shared mailboxes.

This issue started occurring after Microsoft released a big update on 10 November 2022. The message appears below everytime Outlook freezes. We can't be in cached mode as it causes issue with shared mailboxes. How do I fix this issue? thanks Lia

    No further feedback from Microsoft. I knew they were working on an update to fix the issue. The issue did go away and yesterday I experienced this issue again a few times whilst WFH. Today I am in the office and it has been fine. I know there is a O365 update that takes about 5 minutes to install which I installed earlier this week.

    I ran SARA, it didn't recommend a change from basic to modern - we already use modern, it didn't recommend Hardware acceleration either and I recall we did the hardware acceleration change in our environment quite a while back. So for us, the issue is still happening.

    FYI for all involved, running SARA and having it change the client from basic to modern auth and disabling hardware acceleration in Outlook has fixed it for this user. We're now doing it on all the remaining computers on this site. Not sure if it's auth type or hardware acceleration that fixed it (my best is auth type).

    So I have found something interesting after the support rep responded very quickly.

    He asked if all the computers affected were domain joined. When I thought about it, yes they are.

    I also ran SARA on 1 of the affected PC's I've been testing with and it found even thought it's the latest version of Outlook 365, it was running in basic auth mode. The tool changed it to Modern auth and also disabled hardware acceleration. We'll see how that goes next week.
