Microsoft account unusual sign-in activity from Russia

These are phishing attempts. You can just delete them. However, if you do want to help stop them, then report them to both Microsoft and to the provider of the email address in the link. They have been known to use a number of email addresses (e.g. hotmail.com and gmail.com). Hover over the "Report The User", but DON'T click on it. Depending on the browser, either the link will appear at the bottom of the window or just under your cursor. It will show "mailto:..." with an email address. Note what the address is and forward the email to the abuse account for that provider (e.g. ******@gmail.com). Believe it or not, they will shutdown the email addresses. It might not stop them, but it will slow them down and prevent them from receiving confirmations from people that do click on the links.

Your just leading yourself to frustration. You can NOT stop spam from going to your mailbox. Once you accept that fact you'll won't be able to be stress free.

If spam arrives in your Inbox move it to your Junk Folder. That's it. Nothing more to be done.

Spam, just like postal junk mail, is just a way of life now. The ONLY way to escape spam is to NEVER EVER use an email address for anything.

I'm getting exactly the same, I was suspicious so I hunted for information first, and I checked my logs and no login attempts from Moscow so its obviously a spoofed phish attempt, that being said - what concerns me is my account has daily hacking attempts on, I see it in the logs on average 5+ unsuccessful attempts each day.

I just want to add to this conversation that I have just received the emails discussed twice over the last couple of days -- citing unusual login activity from Russia with the credential cited in the discussion above. The information I got from this discussion was really helpful. I logged into the https://account.live.com/Activity and discovered there was no successful login from Russia (one unsuccessful from Vietnam!). I am, however, changing my password! Does not seem that Microsoft has addressed this issue.

I did the same and started getting like zillion spam emails every day which i reported as junk or scam to Microsoft. I believe the guys at Microsoft did something about it because they suddenly stopped coming.
