Why is an IMAP Inbox Only Displaying 10,000 Items When There are Many More Emails on the Server?

I have an IMAP email account that is hosted by AOL Mail, which I download into Outlook 365. The AOL Account has emails going as far back as 2015, and until recently all of those emails were visible (and searchable) through Outlook. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that I could no longer search for emails going back farther than 6 months ago. Those emails are still on the AOL server; I can see them if I use AOL's webmail interface (which is pretty mediocre). But they are no longer downloading into my IMAP inbox. Indeed, at the bottom of the inbox it now says I have 10,000 items.

                                     [!\[\](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/40c12e9d-b5a2-4a30-8bc4-4503de01cbbc?platform=QnA

That's the maximum. If I delete say 100 emails, another 100 emails will download from the AOL server but the downloading will stop when I hit 10,000. (When new emails download from the account, older emails are deleted so I'm just about always at 10,000 items). The full set of emails remains on the AOL server.
In my IMAP Account Settings for this email account, I have the "Keep Mail offline" setting pushed all the way to the right at "All".
[!\\ I can't find any setting in Outlook that limits the number of emails. Nor does there appear to be any setting in the AOL account that limits 3rd party IMAP mailboxes to only 10,000 items (at least not one that I can find). New emails are downloading and syncing with the AOL server, so my connection settings appear to be correct.
Is there some kind of Registry setting that is limiting the number of items that will load into this email inbox? I used to have access to all of the emails that were on the AOL server. Is there any way to get that back? One last note. I deleted the AOL account from Inbox, rebooted and then reinstalled the AOL account. It still only downloaded 10,000 items in the IMAP inbox. Also I'm using the most recent version of Outlook 365.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/e4efa42d-54c3-4fa7-b54a-ae7d93efb421?platform=QnA)](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/40c12e9d-b5a2-4a30-8bc4-4503de01cbbc?platform=QnA)

My Yahoo mail only has 5K emails using export.

How do we reach CEO etc at Yahoo? I haven’t been able to get past those people on the phone even when I asked for an engineer

Just discovered this thread today. Had been frustrated with this since it happened in June. I have AOL (with a verizon email address). Given it seems like things are in flux should I try to add the export to the front of my server log-in? I have about 200k emails on AOL/Verizon (however 1000's of them got duplicated when I tried to transfer my old Outlook email into a new Outlook when I set up a new PC at the beginning of 2022.). So all the emails from 2009 thru 2021 in a separate folder, I think, which seems to be pointing to a different PST or OST file . That folder never changes and is not included in the search in my current email. But all my emails from 2022 are being capped at 10,000. I haven't seen any updates here so wondering how this apparent breaking of the "export" hack is being addressed.

After the latest Microsoft Windows update, it appears it recreated Outlook, and after leaving my PC on over night all of my folders are now back to the same levels of emails as are showing online ... each folder just under 10,000.

    Whatever.

I have the same issue. Been looking for months for a solution. Mine is Windows 10, Outlook, and Yahoo account. Of course, I took on a major role for a 501 c 3, and all my old emails disappeared. It has been challenging these last few months not having the history. Had to spend time cleaning inboxes to discover they come back the more you delete. So I was able to retrieve some of the last years emails for the previous event.

Another issue I am having: I open outlook, still have the limited amount showing, and do something. All of a sudden I look and my emails are "deleting". The inbox is counting down and completely empties! I give it some time and it all comes back to the 10,000 rule. I am seeing the same kind of thing on my iPhone 12 with the Mail app. I am using and all of a sudden it deletes everything. I come back and after a few refreshes, it repopulates, BUT those emails that came in during the "empty" time aren't there. Only the new ones and the previous ones.

I also am adding this note here in hopes I will be notified of a resolution! I am very tired of this issue and want my emails back. I want to be able to search via a keyword and all occurrences of that keyword appear - not just the last year. This bug is really annoying! In the past, I created folders, then outlook crashed. I retrieved my emails, but none were in the folders. Thus I quit using folders as that was a waste of time.

    Any info is appreciated.

Hey, my SPAM is back. I have a folder named Spam, one named Bulk Mail, and one named Bulk. That last one has my SPAM. And my inbox is slowly growing, so I think for no it's working. (38,494 at the moment.) Also confirmed my accounts all point to export.imap.aol.com.

Was it getting the inbox below a certain number? (Not for the SPAM -- my other accounts are well below. In fact, can't even be rebuilding the OST as I didn't do that for the other accounts.
