How to remove old Outlook after switching to New Outlook

I was trying to get rid of the old Outlook ("classic") because it uses a large .OST file on the computer. The new Outlook appears to be the web version with an app package around it to hide that it really the web version.

On my work computer, the installation is the same. If you are going to use another app to e-mail something, you definitely need the older Outlook to send anything. Otherwise, it just sits in the Outbox unit you open Outlook Classic. Also, the new Outlook lacks add-in support and proper signatures and many other features. I've come to the conclusion I just need to keep both and I've gone back to the classic version 99% of the time at work because the new (web) version is just not ready yet. At home I'm using the new version because it's much simpler.

Basically, it is really not ready for release, which is why no one from Microsoft is answering.

It has promise, but definitely not ready.

At the end I've uninstalled the new version, too many problem and is terrible offline. Really slow as new outlook work online and the usage is not really fast as program constantly interact with the online version. The old one is faster so for the moment, for me, question is close!

Microsoft muffed this big time. I keep trying to switch to new outlook on my VM, and it reverts back to Outlook (classic) in the middle of the day. There is no option to uninstall just the old outlook without uninstalling the entire office suite. Modifying the default apps to outlook(new) does not help. Clicking to 'change' in add/remove features only triggers repair in Windows 11.

Do better Microsoft!

I try to send any type of document word, excel, pdf and it opens my old outlook......so frustrating!

Yes, I am also having the exact same issue and have tried all the solutions. Microsoft does not have a way to uninstall old Outlook. I can't just delete the shortcut, as the program will still function in the background, won't it? Where are our Microsoft advisors? We have three pages now of the same question and unresolved problem.

I have the same issue but instead of Office, I have a Microsoft 365 installation. With this, I can't deactivate the old Outlook individually.
