Is there any point to reporting phishing emails?

I've complained about this before, because I get hundreds of junk emails every week (many exact duplicates save the sender address) and while most of them filter into Junk, I still have to deal with them and they still take up room. I can't do a wholesale delete of emails in Junk, as some legit emails go there. However, creating rules on items that automatically go into Junk is a waste of time, as those rules only work on emails in the Inbox. So my option is to continue to manually filter those **** emails, or mark spam/phishing messages as "not junk" and then create a filter, which is not optimal and possibly dangerous. Why does Microsoft not care enough to change this? It's been an issue for many years now.

It seems as though it's a clear waste of time to either mark emails as phishing or block the sender, as they will just change a few characters in the address and send more garbage.

How long do they need this fiasco has been going on for well over 12 months.

STEVE: any resolution ? Steve as I am doing exactly what you’re doing and I have seen no reason why I shouldn’t stop reporting, but I also have been archiving the email messages, and I mean all of them !! I’m thinking that if there was a WAY to SUE , this option in the future could be a start, I have evidence, 15K + SAVED!

If we were a politician or if we had a lot of money, or was a celebrity, I think that somebody probably would’ve just advised us to get a different service, but I still want to continue using my email as it’s been the first one I’ve ever had.

If I just gave my email password to an attorney for one week, they probably would fall over! I know it’s not outlooks fault, but it is their fault for allowing people to make fake emails with every character in the alphabet Combined together as a gibberish Email!!! They should not be allowed to create a new email account without verification that they are indeed a real person following all the policies.

I'd also like to add that in the battle against spam and phishing, of which I have been reporting and complaining for DECADES now, (although it has exponentially gotten worse in the last 5 years), the suggestion to set rules is of absolutely no use either because once you've set so many rules, they simply just STOP WORKING! Once that happens, you can't even edit or reconfigure the rules or blocked list to include domains, making them more encompassing. Randomly the "save" button appears and disappears; and, then, if you manage to make one or two edits while the "save" is available, after exiting and going back in, any changes which you think you've painstakingly made have mysteriously not been saved! Additionally, there's no continuity across different platforms with regards to editing or usefulness. TO SAY THAT THIS SITUATION SUCKS IS A GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT!

I once thought that perhaps there was an orchestrated "glitch" which worked against those who refused to pay for a 365 membership; so, I finally gave in. Well, la-tee-effing-da, the effing jokes on me because that didn't do jack sh*t either! The need to manually filter through a hundred emails that aren't even sortable in the junk box mobile app version of Outlook to catch that one which might not be junk is beyond ridiculous. But, then again, Microsoft can't even stop the phisher who keeps using its own name of "Microsoft account team" in the multiple emails I receive DAILY which claim to advise of "account unusual login activity" from "******@accounts-security.com." That is, or should be, downright embarrassing enough to prompt real change! BUT, obviously it's NOT because the proof continues to arrive in my email box after "reporting!" No wonder why many consumers are switching to Apple products! The Microsoft company name currently comes nowhere near the level of integrity it once had. I wholeheartedly believe THIS to be one of the reasons why.

I'm done ranting .... until the next time! I just hope that EVENTUALLY someone AT MICROSOFT (not an independent adviser) who is in a position to make a tangible difference, actually gives a ****, looks at what its consumers are saying about their product, and makes it THEIR FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS TO FIX THIS JACKED UP PROGRAM WHICH IS MAKING SPAMMERS' AND PHISHERS' SCHEMES MORE PROFITABLE while costing its honest, hardworking consumers their productivity (& in many cases, money)!

It's 2023 and nothing had changed. MS is a joke, all they have to do is block anything with all the weird characters and **** but that's too dificult. What a **** joke.
