Is there any point to reporting phishing emails?

I'm using Outlook.live and I get upwards of 50 phishing emails a day. I report them all... every day. This has been going on for years. I get the same type and look of email even though the sender address constantly changes. Most are just a few block sentences, centered, no frills, that says Congratulations you won..., Click here for your prize..., Click here for this... Click here for that...

Blocking senders is a waste of time. They are always different. I thought Microsoft would be able to block based on content but I'm getting the same stuff over and over... Same stuff I've reported as phishing for years so it doesn't appear that the hundreds of thousands of emails I've reported are being looked at by anyone.

Is there no filtering on Microsoft's side? If there is, why is it not working... if not why report the phishing emails??

    Steve - I'm sure you've received many other responses from others stating that they're having the same issue. Well throw me into the mix as well. All of the so-called fixes for blocking senders, creating "Rules", reporting phishing, etc., that Microsoft offers, are a joke and do absolutely nothing! Microsoft doesn't give a ****. The amount of time I am forced to spend sifting through my junk folder to ensure nothing of importance is in there, is mind numbing. And these "Independent Advisors"... LOL! Are they kidding? Their responses kill me. They either think we're completely stupid, or they're on Microsoft's payroll. As if we don't know the difference between "Spam" and "Phishing". Thanks for that, Einsteins... Nevertheless, I have pretty much given up on Microsoft's b.s. fake buttons and rules, that do jack squat other than perpetuate a lie to their users by suggesting they're doing something about the garbage email. To HELL with you, Microsoft! And best of luck to you, Steve. I fell ya! Sincerely - James

    I am using Outlook 365 with the Report Phishing extension installed on 2 different W10 machines at different times. One has the older version of the extension installed which nicely lets you report via right click in the message list WITHOUT having to open the message.

    I'm finding that the newer install doesn't have that facility, only a button on the top which is greyed out unless you open the message. This seems dangerously counterproductive if you have to open the message to report it, thus opening the door for the sender to know you have read it. Likewise for the sender match check.

    Although the visible sender information is different each time making blocking at the sender level useless, the X-sender IP in the header information is often repeated or at least within an IP range. I have received acknowledgement and apparent action taken from those in the amazon-aws domain, absolute zero from google.

    Surely with all the AI tools they have, Microsoft should have the lookup capability to identify these offending IP addresses and block them at the Exchange level?

    you are a joke and an idiot MS has done NOTHING to stop this yet when an address is whoie%#%#@ sjsjsj. geg and MS can't define such addresses as spam is a **** joke.
