The issue I have with moving items from the inbox to My Day is that I normally want a calendar event for just myself as a to-do item and I don't want to invite people. Many of these emails I want to follow up on go to distribution lists with hundreds of people on them, and accidentally inviting my company to a personal calendar event is going to happen one day. I had a client reminder on my calendar just this week and the only way I noticed I set it as a meeting was they accepted the meeting invitation.

Can you imagine if I had input sensitive information into that calendar event based off the original email?

I want the option to turn off inviting people to events that are dragged to My Day, and I want this as default, since I never create client meetings based off an email. I will always craft a proper meeting agenda with a new calendar invite.

Hi, I have been using the drag to calendar for years. Why on earth would MSFT think this could be removed???

I just updated Outlook to version 1.2024.313.100 and created an event for an email. Apparently, for some ungodly reason, Outlook decided I wanted to invite everyone on the email to the event.

What were you smoking when you changed this functionality???

How do we get the old functionality back???

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm Microsoft user like you.

Please Hold down the left mouse button then drag the message to Calendar (icon) in the lower left-hand corner of the email client.

Once you have the mouse hovered over Calendar (icon), release the left mouse button.

This will open the Appointment window. You can now adjust the date, time of the event. When finished, click Save & Close in the upper left-hand corner of the window.

    Best Regards,
    Prakash

Using the My Day worked for me, but could they have not made this a little more user-intuitive? I don't keep the My Day open because it takes up too much space. So, instead of dragging to my calendar icon, I now have to click the My Day icon, drag the email, and then close the My Day.

    BINGO!
