My Outlook inbox is suddenly getting a ton of spam and I don't know how to stop it

Last week, my personal Outlook email started getting ~50 spam emails per day. I barely ever use this email address, so I am not sure how or why this began to happen. How can I stop all of this spam from getting to my inbox?

I have been flagging all of the emails as spam, but it doesn't seem to be stopping the influx of emails I am getting.

Doesn’t matter how many messages you unsubscribe to, block and then junk…., I just realised it’s a forever problem as the mailing list with my details will just be sold onto another list of companies - FOREVER !!!

I just need to get off the mailing list?

How do you find out what list you are on… and then request to be removed from the list to be sold on ???

Else, it is literally a FOREVER problem 😖

Please help with a solution !

    Hello,

I have just received over 500 spam emails from US, China, Europe - just random everywhere…. I am unsubscribing, blocking and moving to junk for days now. But all that happens is that another company spams me.

It’s obvious that I am on some sort of mailing list and they just sell to another group of companies and I get dumped hundreds of new emails. So I cannot forever doing the above process for each individual email continuously, only to be sold to another list of companies: how can I get myself of the original mailing list itself ? This is seriously upsetting me !!

Is there a way to get off the mailing list that is selling my email address to all these spam companies ?

That would be much easier than going through each and every email and either unsubscribing and blocking. As soon as I do that another company appears to replace it !!

The newer creeps sending junk to my inbox/spam have begun using my own email address as the sender so it cannot be blocked. All one can do is delete and then trash it

Same with me and I'm really unhappy with Support that is not going to be able to do anything for you but give you a list of things that I have to do without just having a chat with a human who is trying to find a solution that works coz I only realised that I am not alone and Microsoft is making me feel like I need to waste heaps of time and it's not really a problem for a few but I have 200 in the last 24 hours. I'm sure that I'm going to be a Google user for the whole process to get my 30 plus years with a Hotmail address. It will be a nightmare to change the address after so many years and I am not sure if I want to do that but I'm going to have to if it's not fixed. I'm not a fan of the time I spend reporting on every one and I don't think anything is done with the increased numbers and I don't know why it is hard to be able to get the Microsoft Defender scan that isn't protecting the user from this very important problem. I'm glad it's not just me but I'm not sure if it is possible to get resolved.

Boy did you hit the nail on the head Jeff!! I'm in the exact same boat... have had MS for as long if not longer and NEVER BEFORE have had this much spam getting through the filters! I think it is a ploy by MS to have people pay. The problem with that ... is I already pay with another email address thru MS so they're not going to get more $$ out of me! I also pay for their 365 thru my business... so where does one draw the line?! If they don't get their act together... A LOT OF US will "jump the MS ship" ...!
