My Outlook inbox is suddenly getting a ton of spam and I don't know how to stop it

Last week, my personal Outlook email started getting ~50 spam emails per day. I barely ever use this email address, so I am not sure how or why this began to happen. How can I stop all of this spam from getting to my inbox?

I have been flagging all of the emails as spam, but it doesn't seem to be stopping the influx of emails I am getting.

Question. If I change my email address is there a way to send out a mass mailing to all my contacts notifying them of the new email address?

Yup, that is the best solution. If your email has been used for years, circulating on spam lists, and has probably been part of one of the many, many, breeches over the years, the best solution is to abandon it, and get a new one. It's really hard as it has become part of your identity, and the burden of having to let your friends know, port over your data, and change your email with.... everyone! What a headache! But I think in this day and age that's going to have to part of regular email hygiene--new address every few years and now Email masking which I see Firefox has started offering. Hopefully one day we will advance as a society and get rid of this noose. Email has been an un-fun, time waster for years now.

I've been having the problem for a week now, so I'll stick around a while and see if the spam filter improves--it has in the past.

Yup, I'm getting hammered by the same type of spam. It's all random so impossible to create a filter. The only thing not random, at least on my end, is the sender address is or is spoofing an .outlook domain. So is the solution to block our own domain???

If the addresses are legit, then someone has found a serious hole that is allowing them to be able to create an unlimited amount of .outlook email addresses. And that is a Microsoft issue!

After a few months of spam I gave up. Last week I subscribed to Google One, moved all my data, and started moving my mail over there and unsubscribed from Microsoft.
