My Outlook inbox is suddenly getting a ton of spam and I don't know how to stop it

Last week, my personal Outlook email started getting ~50 spam emails per day. I barely ever use this email address, so I am not sure how or why this began to happen. How can I stop all of this spam from getting to my inbox?

I have been flagging all of the emails as spam, but it doesn't seem to be stopping the influx of emails I am getting.

Thanks for the info! I tried this and it *seemed* to have helped. I'm getting far fewer spam emails in my inbox. I can't be totally sure that's what did it, but everyone should certainly try it, and report back. I have also been diligently reporting everything as junk or phishing. I've found over the years that eventually the spam filter learns, but I've never had it this intense until recently.

Thnaks Dan. No, I did not find a solution. I think I may be forced to abandon my Hotmail account and migrate to a new account. I am not a "happy camper". I would think that microsoft could come up with a fix.

It's going to depend on your new email provider, unless you send it from your outlook account, which I wouldn't recommend as it might add to the confusion. After you import your contacts to your new provider, you can then generate an email to all your contacts. In gmail for example you go to your contacts list, select everyone you want to sent to, then select envelope icon to create an email. I would cut the contacts from To: box and paste into BCC, unless it's a small group of people that know each other. There will probably be a form of that process for every email provider.

    Hi,

Did you eventually find a solution to this problem.

I have been experiencing this same issue for months now and Microsoft support doesn't seem to have any successful solution,

    Cheers,

    Dan
