My Outlook inbox is suddenly getting a ton of spam and I don't know how to stop it

Last week, my personal Outlook email started getting ~50 spam emails per day. I barely ever use this email address, so I am not sure how or why this began to happen. How can I stop all of this spam from getting to my inbox?

I have been flagging all of the emails as spam, but it doesn't seem to be stopping the influx of emails I am getting.

    Hi,

I have been blocking and reporting spam emails (50-80+ per day) for the last 6 months.

Maybe I get the COC feedback email for 1 out of 100 emails I report.. sometimes I even get a message to say it violated your terms.. Maybe 1 in 200?? So either you are not taking the problem seriously or you are overwhelmed with the problem and cannot cope?

The new one now, is I get spam emails from my own email address!

I can handle the odd casino spam, but now I get solar panels, bitcoin, dating apps, explicit dating apps.. and I need to check my spam folder to make sure there are no genuine emails mixed in that mess.

It's not nice to wake up in the morning and find your email account with 30+ spam emails.

I'm that old, that my email address is still "@hotmail"... But after the migration over to Outlook I went from maybe 2-3 spam per week, to 80+ per day.

The joke really is over... I'm not laughing. It's my time to check my folder, move any genuine emails, and then report the spam. And guess what.... the next day, another 80+ spam emails.

I don't want a standard "We are sorry you are having this issue" reply... or "Have you tried the following" because YES!! I have tried blocking.. I report each one.. It makes no difference.

Every email address is different. I spend an hour every day reporting spam..

Maybe I need to charge this job out to you at 1000 Euro per hour? Then see how quickly you start to take it seriously.

Maybe easier to close the accounts and go with yandex!?

    It's boring..

    It's frustrating..

    It's my time..

    Please............................ make it stop.

    Email response from MS below.

Please rest assured we are aware of large number of SPAM emails landing in the Inbox issue and have engaged the appropriate teams for further investigation and it will be fixed in a future update of the product. As an email service provider, we use several techniques to block junk or spam emails, including content filters, blacklists, and reputation scoring. However, spammers are always adapting and finding new ways to bypass these filters. Sometimes, spammers use advanced techniques such as spoofing the sender's email address or using compromised accounts to send spam emails, making it even more difficult for email service providers to identify and block these messages. Therefore, even with the best filters and spam detection algorithms, it's almost impossible to block 100% of junk emails. Email service providers constantly update their filters and rely on users to report spam, which helps to improve the accuracy of their filters over time. The SPAM emails issue is being worked upon at the back end for many customers facing this issue and there is no more technical troubleshooting regarding this concern to be done at our end.

Yeah right. I don’t buy it.
