My Outlook inbox is suddenly getting a ton of spam and I don't know how to stop it

Last week, my personal Outlook email started getting ~50 spam emails per day. I barely ever use this email address, so I am not sure how or why this began to happen. How can I stop all of this spam from getting to my inbox?

I have been flagging all of the emails as spam, but it doesn't seem to be stopping the influx of emails I am getting.

Mine just started yesterday and I deleted over 5,000 junk emails that were coming into my REGULAR email and then also my Junk....as fast as I could delete, they were coming in. Looks like it's slowed down, but still really don't understand why they don't go to junk completely.

Welp... so far my hope that Microsoft will do ANYTHING to help us all. This is my first comment, and like others, since about October 2023 my spam box has exploded with spam. For many weeks I have tried to report and block them, but the problem is only increasing! My email address is over 20 years old, and previously I'd get about 3 spam mails a day. Sometimes more, but blocking them would decrease the issue.

Currently, in barely 24 hours I have received 70 SPAM MAILS!! Sometimes they drown out a legit email I have been expecting.

The majority of spam mails have subject names like "Netflix", "Life Line Screening", "McAfee", "Carshield", "Easy Canvas" and pick-your-flavor stuff about packages.

Blocking has had no use, and apparently, contacting them neither. Congrats Microsoft, after decades of using your service, your negligence has made it unbearable, and I'm looking for a new provider.

So agree. It has been escalating since Oct. 2023. In addition protected emails are not coming to my inbox (I've checked to make sure they were in my safe senders but I still don't receive them) and now I find that in order to move from folder to folder, i.e. inbox or Junk to deleted, I have to exit and open outlook again (I have brand new everything so it isn't an equipment problem). Of course when I get on the Microsoft "Q&A Page" I am asked to get Microsoft 365, which I already have. Hopefully these are temporary problems that they will address earnestly.
