My Outlook inbox is suddenly getting a ton of spam and I don't know how to stop it

Last week, my personal Outlook email started getting ~50 spam emails per day. I barely ever use this email address, so I am not sure how or why this began to happen. How can I stop all of this spam from getting to my inbox?

I have been flagging all of the emails as spam, but it doesn't seem to be stopping the influx of emails I am getting.

This is STILL happening to me! I already pay for their Office 365 and now this? Microsoft needs to get off their butts and do something. Enough is enough, Microsoft!

Up until about a month ago, I was receiving 200-400 spam emails per day in my Outlook Inbox. I have other email accounts unrelated to Microsoft and I get another 100 in all those mailboxes combined of which 99% goes directly to the spam folders. All of those email addresses are more broadly available to people through my social media and web accounts. So the idea that somehow the spammers are skimming to grab my addresses just doesn't hold muster. It is ONLY Outlook that is getting slammed and not getting automatically filtered on the Outlook side. We are not talking about the spammers that are advertising - talking about the emails that are clearly bogus with false addresses and all sorts of symbols in their text, with their real email addreses very clearly being masked. So, Nelson (and I used to think this was a real person but now I'm thinking this is an AI responder), is clearly providing no help and Microsoft is essentially ignoring this thread.

HOWEVER, for the last month, 90% of the spam from the Microsoft account is now automatically and appropriately going to my spam folder. Some continues to get through but it is down to 10-20 per day and I just delete them. It seems that Microsoft Tech is at least taking some sort of steps to address this problem at the root. If you are on a PC and still being bombarded in your Inbox, you can highlight all the spam at one time and report it in bulk. Just highlight all the spam messages and right click and choose "report". Still a pain in the rear - but less so than having to go through them individually - which no human being has time to do (which is why I think Nelson is either not a human or needs to be banned from responding here on Microsoft with the same message over and over rather than reporting this problem as an issue. All those messages are just making people upset.)

I hope this problem is beginning to to dissipate a bit for those who have been reporting here. If not, I can only encourage you that it does look like Microsoft has started to address it. And I want to encourage you to be kind to poor Nelson. It isn't his fault this is happened and he surely is out of his depth on this issue if he is a real person and should not be allowed to just repost the same old responses that people are already following and getting nowhere. And if he is AI, then "he" doesn't care what you are posting anyway - and clearly no one from Microsoft is taking the time to comb through all these postings. More likely folks in Microsoft Tech started getting pummeled by the same spam bots and decided to try to fix the issue for their own sanity.

That advice is BS. That does not keep the junk from coming. I am seriously considering deleting outlook completely. If this continues, I surely will. I don't think google has this problem. If Bill would concentrate on the business at hand instead of all the other **** he is involved with we might get this solved.
