Hi,

Normally my Outlook links open in my default browser Chrome.

Today they started to open in Edge even though Chrome is still the default browser.

How do I get them to open in Chrome again?

I am using Windows 11 with the Outlook app.

Thanks

This is a new feature in OUTLOOK and has nothing to do with the default apps in the OS settings.

Go to Outlook Options > Advanced > Link Handling > "Open hyperlinks from Outlook in:" > Select "Default Browser".

A marketing feature is what it is. For us as users its just super annoying. Who the hell wants to have different default browser settings for different programs? maybe 0.1% of the people. Now 99.9% of the people have to be bothered with this stupid 'ADVANCED???' hidden setting.

Microsoft, at-least be honest about it and don't call it a new feature, everybody knows its not a feature. Nobody thinks: oh wow, now all of my email and calendar links open in Edge! do you expect us to believe that ****? Do you think we are stupid or something?

Edge sucks and i don't want to use it. Zoom does not work on it. But i get forced to. **** the Microsoft marketing machine, focus on making useful products and you won't need marketing. You are market leader anyway.

Thankyou - that finally worked. Microsoft being sneaky and putting that setting in the app instead of using the device settings…..

It looks like the name of the "feature" changed several times already. Pretty sure this is another strategy to prevent people from finding it and changing the setting to their liking.

Now it is still in "Outlook Options" > "Advanced" but it was renamed to "File and browser preferences" > "Open hyperlinks from Outlook in".

Apologies if someone posted this already, I couldn't read all 6 pages of comments
