I have been using Outlook 2016 Desktop for Windows for quite awhile to access my AOL - (Verizon.net) emails. Just recently, I can't sync my AOL emails to my Outlook 2016 Desktop app. I can not generate an app password via AOL in order to sync and download my new emails to Outlook. I have contacted AOL several times and they are NO help at all. How can I generate a 3rd Party App password to make my outlook work as before? Any ideas/solutions on how to get around this issue?
P.S. I am using Outlook 2016 Desktop (Windows 11), not Outlook 365 or Outlook.com app.

No, it doesn't have anything to do with multiple accounts. It's all of AOL. Any time you have to generate an app password ... It'**** or Miss. Sometime it works and sometimes it doesn't. And they aren't going to fix it neither. Extremely Frustrating I Know!!!
I was finally able to get aol to generate third party passwords for both of the email accounts I needed.
My AOL email originated with AOL and I can't get the password generator to work. I am willing to bet that if you are a paying subscriber to AOL, the app password generator works just fine.

Ok, since Yahoo purchased AOL, I wondered if I could generate an app password via Yahoo. I was able to log in to Yahoo using my AOL credentials but then it pulls up my Yahoo account that is associated with my AOL email address.
The app password generator for Yahoo does not work either. Yahoo's Account Security page has the same exact layout/look as AOL's. The only difference is the Yahoo header.
I received the same exact error message using the Yahoo app as I did when trying to generate an app password via AOL's Account Security page.
I am thinking it is an integration issue and that Yahoo has disabled the app password generator on both sites. Or maybe they disabled it so they can force AOL and Yahoo users to use their mail apps.
I just did a search and came across a response on Yahoo's help boards from November that says the app password generator has been "temporarily removed" while they do upgrades and that they do not have an ETA as to when the fuctionality will be reinstated.
Ok, technically the app password generator has NOT been removed because it is still present on the webpage. Secondly, if the functionality has been disabled, how flippin' hard is it to post a message on the page so that users aren't spending hours trying to find a resolution to the issue?!!!!
Again, I highly doubt that the functionality will be enabled for users with basic, free accounts. It will likely be reinstated for users that pay for upgraded services via AOL and Yahoo. So the options are continue to use the free services and be forced to use the AOL and Yahoo apps (put up with annoying ads) or bite the bullet and shell out the money to upgrade your service.
For those of you out there that can no longer access your AOL email via Outlook, etc., there are apps'/software available so that you can migrate your AOL email to another platform or download the files. I don't know if there are free options out there or if it is going to require a subscription. Fortunately, I have access to my email data so that is not an option I have to explore in depth.
