I have been using Outlook 2016 Desktop for Windows for quite awhile to access my AOL - (Verizon.net) emails. Just recently, I can't sync my AOL emails to my Outlook 2016 Desktop app. I can not generate an app password via AOL in order to sync and download my new emails to Outlook. I have contacted AOL several times and they are NO help at all. How can I generate a 3rd Party App password to make my outlook work as before? Any ideas/solutions on how to get around this issue?
P.S. I am using Outlook 2016 Desktop (Windows 11), not Outlook 365 or Outlook.com app.

Someone else mentioned generating a second back up password. Might also suggest that while AOL indicates no need to write down the password, record it anyway and maybe can be used again as long as the AOL record wasn't wiped.
Oh, what I didn't mention is that I was also converting 2 or 3 other existing @verizon.net accounts I had in Outlook from POP to IMAP and ran into the same problem as the old accounts needed to be removed and added back in order to change POP to IMAP. Ended up having to wait a couple days each in order to generate an App Password for each to use in Outlook. Maybe if I had saved to original App password, it would have been easier. Anyone doing consulting work for clients have any insight as to the impact on time and billing for your services in having to keep going back to retry on multiple days when the process should pretty much be in and out and done? Still waiting about 4 days now for the App Password Generator to become available for my newly created aol.com account.

Yes, that was me! After 4 days I was finally able to get the generator to work and after that I went back and created another password for future use. I simply copied and pasted it and saved it in notepad. However due to the ongoing issue I have started changing my default email on things from my AOL account to my other email accounts. It is a work in progress given how many years (20+) I have used the AOL email.

OK, thanks. Hopefully my new aol.com address will allow an app password to be generated soon. I wrote down the recent passwords but think I'll also generate backup ones as well to add to my massive database of passwords. I was never a fan of AOL and I've always like having the @verizon.net addresses from when we first had FiOS so it was disheartening when Verizon offed the email to AOL and Yahoo but I've had it out there for too many to try ditching it completely in lieu of my @gmail.com's that seem to be the most stable and reliable of platforms right now.
