FYI ... I just now tried it and it generated an app password for me!!!

I have been using Outlook 2016 Desktop for Windows for quite awhile to access my AOL - (Verizon.net) emails. Just recently, I can't sync my AOL emails to my Outlook 2016 Desktop app. I can not generate an app password via AOL in order to sync and download my new emails to Outlook. I have contacted AOL several times and they are NO help at all. How can I generate a 3rd Party App password to make my outlook work as before? Any ideas/solutions on how to get around this issue?
P.S. I am using Outlook 2016 Desktop (Windows 11), not Outlook 365 or Outlook.com app.

2023-08-23T18:52:54+00:00 KEEP TRYING to generate an app password!!! When you least expect it ... It will work! The message "Not available right now!" has been displaying for over a year now! AOL is not doing anything about it because they want you to use their AOL email app and browser!
I know it sounds crazy but, if you keep trying it will eventually work! Trust me, it took me a little over a month, but I finally had success! I can't guarantee how long it will work though! While I had it working, I generated numerous app passwords and saved them in case I needed them for future use! Good Luck!

2023-08-23T17:27:01+00:00 Like many here, my previous app specific generated password for my AOL account, stopped working for Outlook. Stopped getting email a couple of weeks ago. As a troubleshoot, I had to delete AOL account in Outlook. But when trying to re-enter it. I couldn't. Previous generated app password, and normal password didn't take.
Tried generating a new one for Outlook via web browser. And got the "Sorry, this feature is not available right now!" message. So I tried doing it through the AOL app on my iPhone. As some have reported that worked for them. Unfortunately, I get the same "Not available right now!" message.
Not sure, if it's just temporarily down. Or indefinitely down (aka AOL removed this feature).
So now, I'm forced to use the AOL app to check my AOL emails. Instead of one central app to access all my email accounts. I also use Spark, but I stopped getting AOL emails from them as well. And as with Outlook, generated pw didn't take, when trying to re-enter my AOL account.
Technology. Sometimes it can be so smart, that they end up being stupid.

Then I tried it using the AOL app on my phone. Worked first time.
