I have been using Outlook 2016 Desktop for Windows for quite awhile to access my AOL - (Verizon.net) emails. Just recently, I can't sync my AOL emails to my Outlook 2016 Desktop app. I can not generate an app password via AOL in order to sync and download my new emails to Outlook. I have contacted AOL several times and they are NO help at all. How can I generate a 3rd Party App password to make my outlook work as before? Any ideas/solutions on how to get around this issue?
P.S. I am using Outlook 2016 Desktop (Windows 11), not Outlook 365 or Outlook.com app.

AWESOME glad it finally worked for you. I didn't know that about the IP address.
Mine worked when I tried it at home. I’ve been trying at work. So it seems you have to generate the app password, from the same IP address that you generated a previous one. Someone mentioned that on this thread.
Thanks for the suggestion. I believe the issue was that I was trying to generate the password from a different IP (at work). Someone on this thread mentioned that you have to use the same IP address you used the last time you generated an app password. Which would be my home. So when I got home, I tried it. And bam! It worked! I generated a couple of passwords for Outlook and Spark.
However, when I tried to re-enter my AOL/AIM account to Outlook for iOS, I know I entered all IMAP settings correctly, Outlook still said that my username/email, or password was incorrect. I tried both generated passwords.
The same issue was happening with Spark as well. AOL/AIM account stopped pushing emails. I deleted, and re-entered, using the generated password. And it worked. I can now receive AOL emails through Spark again.
I believe, this and many other issues I’ve had with Outlook, is a Microsoft issue. Issues always come up, after an update. Not every update, but definitely after an update. And all the “solutions” Microsoft support gives me, has never worked. The issues end up resolving itself overtime. I’m going to guess some subsequent update fixed them. Only to be broken again, after another update. Lol
Outlook is garbage. I’ll be switching back to Spark again. But permanently this time. Just sick and tired of Outlook. Both mobile and desktop. The desktop issue I’ve been having, my Yahoo account keeps unsyncing, and resyncing for the last couple of months. I also use Spark Desktop on my Mac, and my Yahoo account has never had any issues. I stopped using Outlook desktop as well.
I was having the same issue when I tried to generate an app-specific password on AOL using a Chrome browser. It worked randomly after about 3 weeks worth of trying.
So then I tried using the AOL app on my iPhone.
Worked first time.
Give it a shot....
