Can't Generate 3rd Party App Password (AOL) for Outlook 2016 Desktop using Windows 11

I have been using Outlook 2016 Desktop for Windows for quite awhile to access my AOL - (Verizon.net) emails. Just recently, I can't sync my AOL emails to my Outlook 2016 Desktop app. I can not generate an app password via AOL in order to sync and download my new emails to Outlook. I have contacted AOL several times and they are NO help at all. How can I generate a 3rd Party App password to make my outlook work as before? Any ideas/solutions on how to get around this issue?

P.S. I am using Outlook 2016 Desktop (Windows 11), not Outlook 365 or Outlook.com app.

Unfortunately you are RIGHT!!! It is ALL about GREED! The AOL app password generator is hit & miss. It works sometimes and most of the time it doesn't work at all. And I agree, it is a simple software fix that AOL has no interest in fixing! AOL wants the user to use their email web browser and no one elses. Advertisements are money generators!!!

That is exactly what I think also and I insist on keep using Outlook as mail client for netscape.net mail.

The question still is, how do we get this back operational. I have not been lucky in having it working, since the issue started whilst I was using it for years.

Microsoft techs can’t you guys do something about this. By the netscape.net was acquired by AOL and now AOL has been acquired by Yahoo, why can’t they assist on fixing this?

I am having the same issue after I had to reinstall Windows on my computer. I spent 40 minutes on the phone with AOL today (2/18/23) only to be told they probably aren't enabling this function but it worked for you yesterday so there is hope. I will keep trying and maybe I will get lucky. So frustrating.

It worked for me last week after months of not working. I went to try it again just now (19-Feb-23) and now it won't allow me to generate an app password!
