I have been using Outlook 2016 Desktop for Windows for quite awhile to access my AOL - (Verizon.net) emails. Just recently, I can't sync my AOL emails to my Outlook 2016 Desktop app. I can not generate an app password via AOL in order to sync and download my new emails to Outlook. I have contacted AOL several times and they are NO help at all. How can I generate a 3rd Party App password to make my outlook work as before? Any ideas/solutions on how to get around this issue?
P.S. I am using Outlook 2016 Desktop (Windows 11), not Outlook 365 or Outlook.com app.

Sorry but I don't know what "toggle off and on 2FA" means or how to do this. Could you please explain and give instructions how to "toggle off and on 2FA"?
Thank you.
Thanks! I just tried your suggestion and it worked. For how long ... I don't know. It seems to work for awhile and then it doesn't. Not sure what's going on with AOL but for now it works!
I just try to toggle off and on 2FA then Password for Generate 3rd Party App Password (AOL) working again.
I am have been at this for the last couple of hours after a software upgrade. I'm glad I found these post, not that it solves my problems, but it confirms that things are not working and everything I have tried won't fix it. I cannot generate and app password. AOL should be ashamed of themselves for leaving us all in the lurch on this. I will keep trying to generate an app password and hopefully one day it works for me too so I can get back to working productively
