Can't Generate 3rd Party App Password (AOL) for Outlook 2016 Desktop using Windows 11

I have been using Outlook 2016 Desktop for Windows for quite awhile to access my AOL - (Verizon.net) emails. Just recently, I can't sync my AOL emails to my Outlook 2016 Desktop app. I can not generate an app password via AOL in order to sync and download my new emails to Outlook. I have contacted AOL several times and they are NO help at all. How can I generate a 3rd Party App password to make my outlook work as before? Any ideas/solutions on how to get around this issue?

P.S. I am using Outlook 2016 Desktop (Windows 11), not Outlook 365 or Outlook.com app.

I was just told by AOL tech support that somehow the issue is AOL does not recognize my device. But by logging into the AOL webmail every day for 2 weeks, it will recognize the device and generate a new password. I told her this is insane and I don't believe it has anything to do with "security," but I'll try it and if it doesn't work, my wife will finally have to just give up her old verizon.net/AOL email address and either use a Gmail account or set up a microsoft account so she can use the Office 365 Outlook address she wants.

    All,

This is an AOL security feature. You can only generate a password from a device that has been logged in to AOL before.

I used my Ipad AOL app (had it about 6 months) to generate the Password.

From my new build PC I could not generate the password, but from the Ipad no problem. I typed the password from Ipad in the Outlook New Account, and voila it worked.

It would be nice if AOL would make this clear instead of stating "Feature is not available right now". Just change this text to "This feature will be avialble once you have been logged in to AOL for more than.... 4? .... days.

    Hope this helps

    Anthony

I had the same problem with AOL APP Password Generator. I kept trying it and I kept getting App Generator is not available ... Just on a whim I disconnected my VPN and son of a gun that worked and I was able to get my password. So what I am saying is that if you are trying to get an APP Password for AOL and you are running a VPN try disconnecting your VPN just long enough to get your password.

I was having the same issue, but when I switched from the Chrome browser to the Edge browser, it worked. So try changing browsers.
