Can't Generate 3rd Party App Password (AOL) for Outlook 2016 Desktop using Windows 11

I have been using Outlook 2016 Desktop for Windows for quite awhile to access my AOL - (Verizon.net) emails. Just recently, I can't sync my AOL emails to my Outlook 2016 Desktop app. I can not generate an app password via AOL in order to sync and download my new emails to Outlook. I have contacted AOL several times and they are NO help at all. How can I generate a 3rd Party App password to make my outlook work as before? Any ideas/solutions on how to get around this issue?

P.S. I am using Outlook 2016 Desktop (Windows 11), not Outlook 365 or Outlook.com app.

Just an update that close to 2 months out from having resolved this, I'm still having no further issues using Outlook to retrieve AOL mail using an app password. In most cases, patience in staying logged in or logging in consistently to AOL from the same device and maybe same IP address over the course of a few days is important. When the feature does become available to also write down the app password and generate some back-up app passwords for emergency purposes. I did have a newly created test AOL account I created that after about a week or longer never was able to unlock the app password generator so this might not always work for anyone just setting up an AOL account. I ended up deleting the temp account and swear to never attempt to use AOL for any new accounts I might ever want. Gmail also has an app password generator which so far seems to work as intended.

aol are not currently generating 3rd party passwords!

Actually the AOL 3rd party generator works inconsistently. There are many prior comments to substantiate this, also I was the first person on the thread to recommend for people to save backup passwords. So if your looking to generate password than I would keep trying.

AWESOME glad it finally worked for you. I didn't know that about the IP address.

Mine worked when I tried it at home. I’ve been trying at work. So it seems you have to generate the app password, from the same IP address that you generated a previous one. Someone mentioned that on this thread.
