Gmail / Google - Browser does not support Javascript when trying to add gmail account to Outlook 365

I am lost and google search providing no answers!

I am getting a strange issue when trying to add my google account to Outlook 365

When adding a gmail account and connecting to google for auth, I am able to enter my email address, type of account, but after I submit my password I get the following error.

I even lowered security for the Internet zone to Medium and still no go My default browser in Windows is set to Chrome, it does have Javascript enabled as well - I use the gmail link all the time no issue and to check, I disabled Java in chrom and couldn't access gmail link, so I re-enabled it.

Apart from check this java setting in this browser, is there anyone that can get current google mail to work with current Outlook 365?

    Hi Gabriel.

    That worked. Got rid of the Javascript error and allowed the password field to appear so I could complete the connection. I also set up an App Password in my Gmail account to use rather than the two factor authentication in the future.

    I have the same issue and like another poster, had at one time somehow confused Google with a personal gmail version of an email account that is actually under a Google Workspace account so I get the same choice if G-Suite vs Individual. I've seen it before and worked through it before. I can't see how to make the addin for GWSMO work and the help screen seems to say it won't work for Outlook 365 anyway so I didn't go any farther. I am posting here as I have another email account from the same Google Workspace account (different domain) that works fine and when I update the password for it I don't get the browser doesn't support Javascript error...I get a password field as I'd expect.

    Perhaps that will help someone solve the problem for all of us. Meanwhile I'm just using another email client. Once Readdle (Support Ukraine!) gets Spark working in Windows I'll end my 30 year unhappy marriage to Outlook for good. It's always been bloated and difficult software.

    In case anybody is still experiencing this issue, using the Google Workspace Sync tool appears to be a workaround: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gssmo/

    Must be using a Google Workspace account though.

    I am also having this issue and I'm a former Microsoft software engineer! This is an awful glitch. I have tried the following:

    • Changing default browser
    • Allowing EVERYTHING to go through in Internet Explorer
      • I, too thought they were using the IE component within an application modal, but no changes to IE settings seem to impact it
    • I've tried to manually override the login via another copied account, but that didn't work either
    • For me, it seems the issue is because I created a Google account with my email, and then I created my GMAIL for it
      • In other words, it gives me that choice of "which account did you want to sign in as" dialog (see image)
