The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again. HOW LONG IS THAT MOMENT?

Today I received an email from Microsoft saying

Security alert
We think that someone else might have accessed the Microsoft account ed**___@___.___. When this happens, we require you to verify your identity with a security challenge and then change your password the next time you sign in.

I've changed logged in, went through the security checks, and I've changed my password, but now when I try to log in, it tells me

Something went wrong and we can't sign you in at the moment. Please try again later. The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again.

I'm on a Mac, and I can't access it through the Mail app, nor through a web browser. I've cleared the cache, I've restarted both the app and the browsers and the computer, I've tried different browsers, as well as Incongito Window mode, with no luck. It works on my phone Outlook app, though. But I can't access my emails on my computer?

Any ideas? How long do I have to wait to try it again? I've allowed an hour to pass and I'm still experiencing the same issue.

Thanks.

I know. This is <removed> incredible. The Mrs. thinks I am being soft hacked.

This issue is ONLY on my iMac. My PC's at work have no problem signing.

When I click 'sign in' you can see it try and load 5 times or so on the MSN tab.

Unbelievable that this is a problem.

Can this be related to not having the operating system up to date?

Mrs. won't update - she says all the MS Office stuff will stop working.

    True?

Is everyoine having this problem on iMac?

My operating system hasn't been updated in a long time.

Mrs. says it will screw up the MS Office suite.

I've checked almost every other avenue with no luck.

Email open no problem at work on PC.

Exactly the same issue on my home desktop. But my two laptops work fine.

There is no fix I know of, I've been looking to fix this for 2 months.

I'm still able to access the Windows apps (Word, etc) on my Lenovo.....but Teams is trashed. I can't get in at all and....I'm supposed to be attending an interview meeting in 30 mins.
