The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again. HOW LONG IS THAT MOMENT?

Today I received an email from Microsoft saying

Security alert
We think that someone else might have accessed the Microsoft account ed**___@___.___. When this happens, we require you to verify your identity with a security challenge and then change your password the next time you sign in.

I've changed logged in, went through the security checks, and I've changed my password, but now when I try to log in, it tells me

Something went wrong and we can't sign you in at the moment. Please try again later. The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again.

I'm on a Mac, and I can't access it through the Mail app, nor through a web browser. I've cleared the cache, I've restarted both the app and the browsers and the computer, I've tried different browsers, as well as Incongito Window mode, with no luck. It works on my phone Outlook app, though. But I can't access my emails on my computer?

Any ideas? How long do I have to wait to try it again? I've allowed an hour to pass and I'm still experiencing the same issue.

Thanks.

Why is this message coming up???? Very frustrating that I was using my email all morning and this message keeps popping up and will not let me back in?????? Ridiculous to say the least. Does this actually fix itself now as the note indicates to wait a moment and try again, which has not worked so far!

Ok. Update to my last comment.

I went ahead and cleared cookies on my macbook air and am now back up and running in outlook. Seems to be working ok for now! Fingers crossed that it stays that way!

    Thank you.

Bypass all add ons and you will be asked to log in. Then it works again, even with add ons active.

    Cheers!

I also have the same issue I haven’t been able to get onto my emails for a couple days now, I open it in the browser but then it pops up with that message and kicks me back off, I have loads of unsuccessful log in attempts from all over the world showing in the authentication app on an almost hourly basis- so there must be another way for me to access my account otherwise it’ll always be locked due to the spam login attempts - please advise Microsoft..

Please try these possible solutions which were added to the original post, the post that started this thread?
