Today I received an email from Microsoft saying

Security alert
We think that someone else might have accessed the Microsoft account ed**___@___.___. When this happens, we require you to verify your identity with a security challenge and then change your password the next time you sign in.

I've changed logged in, went through the security checks, and I've changed my password, but now when I try to log in, it tells me

Something went wrong and we can't sign you in at the moment. Please try again later. The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again.

I'm on a Mac, and I can't access it through the Mail app, nor through a web browser. I've cleared the cache, I've restarted both the app and the browsers and the computer, I've tried different browsers, as well as Incongito Window mode, with no luck. It works on my phone Outlook app, though. But I can't access my emails on my computer?

Any ideas? How long do I have to wait to try it again? I've allowed an hour to pass and I'm still experiencing the same issue.

Thanks.

I don't like the Microsoft Edge Browser. However, the only way I was able to use Teams for an important meeting was to actually install Edge and then it worked. Really Microsoft? Forcing people to use your browser? Well, that's not right! I will uninstall Edge on my Mac as soon I no longer need it.

I've come up with a solution. I know exactly how to fix this. Everyone read this now, and go to your browser. This will work if you are using chrome. Other browsers may do this a little different. So for anyone using chrome, go to your address bar on your internet after trying to load hotmail.com. you will notice either a lock symbol or another symbol that has a couple circles and dashes right beside where you start typing the website. Click on that it's the cookies button. After you load that, go to the option called cookies and site data. Then you will see on device site data. At this point you need to click the trash can icon on anything appearing in that tab with hotmail or login.live.com. it will clear the cookies for that exact website and you will be back to normal. The only thing is you will need to retype your password back in, which should be Auto saved anyways by chrome. This works. I promise I just did it myself. You have to clear the cookies for hotmail.com by going to the top of your browser right beside where you start to type a website into your browser. Click on that icon and do exactly what I said. Thank me later
