Today I received an email from Microsoft saying

Security alert
We think that someone else might have accessed the Microsoft account ed**___@___.___. When this happens, we require you to verify your identity with a security challenge and then change your password the next time you sign in.

I've changed logged in, went through the security checks, and I've changed my password, but now when I try to log in, it tells me

Something went wrong and we can't sign you in at the moment. Please try again later. The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again.

I'm on a Mac, and I can't access it through the Mail app, nor through a web browser. I've cleared the cache, I've restarted both the app and the browsers and the computer, I've tried different browsers, as well as Incongito Window mode, with no luck. It works on my phone Outlook app, though. But I can't access my emails on my computer?

Any ideas? How long do I have to wait to try it again? I've allowed an hour to pass and I'm still experiencing the same issue.

Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I am using Edge on a Windows PC. I can access my Outlook for around 10 seconds or so and then:

I had to change my password because the password I've been using for the past month no longer worked. I had to change the password a month ago because the password I was using stopped working. Is this how it's going to be from now on? change your password every month only to have to go through this?

Edit: Someone said they used a different browser. I was using Edge but tried using Brave instead. Outlook is working fine in Brave. So - Outlook, a Microsoft product, is having problems with Edge, another Microsoft product? Ok.

    This can't be helpful!

The reason for raising the query is clearly shown in the message screenshot by someone else above. Pretty clear "can't sign you in at the moment".

If Microsoft can't sign you in, then you can't contact support and "chat with a support agent".

    So ...

I was using Firefox and kept getting this message. I just opened Outlook in Chrome with no issues.
I've also recently been having issues with YouTube while using Firefox.
Are they teaming up against Firefox or is the problem on Mozilla's end?
