The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again. HOW LONG IS THAT MOMENT?

Today I received an email from Microsoft saying

Security alert
We think that someone else might have accessed the Microsoft account ed**___@___.___. When this happens, we require you to verify your identity with a security challenge and then change your password the next time you sign in.

I've changed logged in, went through the security checks, and I've changed my password, but now when I try to log in, it tells me

Something went wrong and we can't sign you in at the moment. Please try again later. The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again.

I'm on a Mac, and I can't access it through the Mail app, nor through a web browser. I've cleared the cache, I've restarted both the app and the browsers and the computer, I've tried different browsers, as well as Incongito Window mode, with no luck. It works on my phone Outlook app, though. But I can't access my emails on my computer?

Any ideas? How long do I have to wait to try it again? I've allowed an hour to pass and I'm still experiencing the same issue.

Thanks.

Same here. Is it possible that everyone here was using a non-Windows computer to try to sign in (I did) and Microsoft only make it work on Windows?

Another "victim" here, cannot use my Microsoft account anymore with Teams.

Following all steps possible re troubleshooting, I changed from password to MS Authenticator. This did not help either.

So in the end I created a brand new email and used that as an account to use Teams. Very poor workaround, but as per Alisdair above, I needed Teams for work.

Surprised that MS support does not step into this conversation and sort the issue out , not great

I have exactly the same issue. I have wasted about ten hours going through every possible troubleshooting solution with no luck. Deleting, reinstalling, subscribing, everything. Also unable to get any help from Microsoft team. Due to be hosting an industry seminar on Wednesday and I can't get in to my Teams account.

HAS ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM??? Or any way to get help from Microsoft? I'm getting desperate!

    Hi Microsoft team,

I also have the same issue, can you please advise how to fix this? I am paying to use your service being able to access it should be a basic requirement.

    Thanks,

    Craig
