I received an email that read: Starting on December 01, 2022, Office 365 will begin retiring Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 and 1.1 for POP3 and IMAP4. TLS is a standard protocol used to provide secure web communications for POP3 and IMAP4. Pop3 and IMAP4 are the client/server protocols for receiving emails. We will enforce TS 1.2 moving forward to provide enhanced encryption and help ensure your emails are received more securely. We have already disabled TLS 1.0 and 1.1 for most Microsoft 365 services in the worldwide environment.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? Our records show that your email account has reently been accessed with POP#/IMAP4 through TLS 1.0 or 1.1. POP3 and IMAP4 will not be able to receive emails with POP3/IMAP4 protocol after that. To continue accessing your email accoutn using POP3 or IMAP4, please upgrade/update your client support TLS1.2 Your emails will not be removed, but you cannot access them without upgrading your client. I do not have Office 365. I have an old hotmail account, that I access through Windows on a desktop computer, and also on my Apple phone. I'm at a loss of what I should do. The letter I got sent today to my email account seems to think that I have Office 365, but I don't. Is there anyone out there that can even tell me if this is a true Microsoft email that I received? And, is there a phone number or an email address that I can write to, so that I can get easy directions, or instructions on how I can continue to access my hotmail account after December 1, 2022? Thank you

Not sure if I’ll get to it tonight, but, it’s possible! Thanks for instructions .. what needs to be “repaired” with Office 2010. Do you feel the installation was bad because of Trial Version of 365 is still there?

Yep - my mistake I should have remembered to tell you to uninstall the trial version of Microsoft 365. Sorry about that but it's no major crisis
First uninstall Microsoft 365 - that's done by going to
<Settings> --> <Apps> --> <Apps & Features> --> scroll down until you find <Microsoft 365> --> Uninstall

*** it's been a while since I went through this but don't think that '2010 sets the individual '2010 are going to show up on the TaskBar. Just need to search for Office 2010 using <Start Search> and pin the 2010 apps to the Taskbar
When I click on the four little squares all the way to the left on the task bar I can see there is a Word icon, an Excel icon, and even an Office icon. When I clicked on the Word icon, it brought up the Office 365 free trial Word. Not the Word from Office 2010. Was I supposed to delete the "trial version" .. I hope I didn't mess anything up!

My problem, was that I couldn't find where the DVD player was on "my computer" until you showed me. And then I saw the drive, and then I saw the Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Edition!
Once I found the correct drive, and clicked on it to open, it still really didn't do anything. I'm not sure now if I right clicked, or double clicked on it, and still nothing happend. But, I figured out... I had to click "run as Admin" - and that seemed to do the trick! Thank the Lord!
Sooooo, now I have Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and a bunch of other programs I really didn't use, and I should have really customized what I wanted to install - but, it's all here now!
I still need your help! -- I really don't know where to find Word, if I want to create a document. I noticed on the last screen shot you sent me, that you have Word, Excel, etc as shortcut icons on your desktop. Can you share with me how to do that? That would make me happy to find them that way, or whatever way I can find them!
Can you believe it! It's like you said, Office 2010 should work with Windows 11. I did the Service Pack 2, and it all looks like it's running beautifully! I'm just amazed, and DELIGHTED!

Unfortunately, noen of my computers have a DVD drive and don't know where my external DVD drive is at the moment (it's been years since I've used a CD/DVD)
That said, if you open Windows Explorer, it will look similar to this screenshot
Click on <This PC> to expand it. Your DVD drive should have it's own drive letter below the "C:" drive. Assuming it's there, click on to expand it to see what is contained on the DVD drive (ignore the <Shared Folders> in the screenshot - that's something specific to the system I used to get the screenshot)
