Why does Microsoft want to charge me for Hotmail service when I have deleted almost all messages ?

I have used hotmail for free for more than ten years. Today I received a message from Microsoft telling me that I don't have enough space and I cannot send or receive messages. They say I have to pay monthly or annually to be able to do that. I have deleted almost all my messages from Hotmail, but the message is still there. I feel Microsoft is forcing me to pay for hotmail now.

    I did the same. I deleted 60% of my messages, photos and videos. It DID NOT work. I switched to my newer email account. Gmail. Good bye 1990’s Hotmail.

    Please can some one help me is there a telephone number for outlook email in Ireland? i just can't find it, i have been on this forum before cos i was shocked i had to pay for hotmail after 15 yrs so i ended up paying cos i coundn't receive or send messages " thought is was a scam at first" the cost was €1.99 a month, "2 payments later" i do online classes, just went to review my hotmail/outlook emails notes online and it has happened again ??????????? The same you can't receive or send email messages, storage full,??????i i have a class in morning what do i do, too stressful, i deleted as much as i could who do i send a complaint/report to thank you

    20 Years and Countless Accounts linked to my Hotmail address...

    Banks, Business Etc... Microsoft REALLY broke it off in everyone's AZZ...

    Bill gates need to recoup all his SCAMDEMIC Money and buy more raw land

    for what ever other SLIME SHOW He has up his sleeve...

    So I had no choice but to cave and PAY for the cheapest years subscription

    (Bravo Microsoft, You shook me down for 70 bucks)...

    I'll be spending Time I don't have to Comb through and set up all my accounts with a NEW E MAIL.

    I hope you Crash and Burn for this dirtball move....

    Hi Antonio,

    I received this too. Microsoft suddenly started charging me $11.30 CAD for Microsoft 365 Basic on the Hotmail account I have been using for free for 20 years. It has nothing to do with storage on your account. Microsoft scares people into thinking you will completely lose access to your account, but it's not true.

    You can cancel the subscription at any time, and you will not lose access to you email account. I just did it. Microsoft just charged me today. I clicked My Microsoft Account in the top right corner --> Services & Subscriptions --> selected Cancel Subscription. If you do this as soon as you are charged, Microsoft will refund your money.
