Why does Microsoft want to charge me for Hotmail service when I have deleted almost all messages ?

I have used hotmail for free for more than ten years. Today I received a message from Microsoft telling me that I don't have enough space and I cannot send or receive messages. They say I have to pay monthly or annually to be able to do that. I have deleted almost all my messages from Hotmail, but the message is still there. I feel Microsoft is forcing me to pay for hotmail now.

    I have 245gb internal storage on my phone why would i have to pay to send and receive outlook email on my phone after 15 yrs ??? deleted lots memories of mam and dad am so heartbroken, don't know how i am to contine my Angelic online class, i need it fixed asap solution greatly appreciated

    Microsoft has really screwed over longtime users. This is outrageous. I have to pay to use my email because you decided to link onedrive. Ridiculous.

    I'm having the same problems, Sat here yesterday deleting thousands of emails. To find out they don't even delete. Your forced to pay for storage now to access your emails. Even if you try delete to make storage you can't.
