Why does Microsoft want to charge me for Hotmail service when I have deleted almost all messages ?

I have used hotmail for free for more than ten years. Today I received a message from Microsoft telling me that I don't have enough space and I cannot send or receive messages. They say I have to pay monthly or annually to be able to do that. I have deleted almost all my messages from Hotmail, but the message is still there. I feel Microsoft is forcing me to pay for hotmail now.

Same here...I spent many hours combing through and deleting emails and attachments (over 2500 to be exact) following the above steps yesterday and still get the same message that my email is full. The number has gone from 150% full to 124% full. I have been a customer for over 20 years but I will get rid of my outlook if this is not rectified. I will not be forced to pay for something. I will just leave

I know right?? Microsoft is going to lose my business now. I REFUSE to pay for an email address I've had for years for FREE!!
