New Outlook won't let me add my outlook email account. "This email account cannot be added to Outlook" Advanced setup does not work either?

Good day,
I have added another email address for my wife in the mail app in windows 11. I created it using the the new outlook. I also used the new address to log into my Microsoft account and that works. In new outlook I get the following message, Authentication or initialization failed. Click Reload to try again. Clicking reload does nothing. When I switch to the old mail app the email address is able to send and receive emails. When I switch back to the new outlook I get the Authentication or initialization failed. Click Reload to try again error. What is wrong?
The first picture shows the account working in the old mail app. The second picture shows the error in the new outlook app.

I quit trying to make Outlook work with so many issues, and I am now using the Yahoo email app, which allowed me to add accounts from Hotmail, Gmail, apart from their own Yahoo, in a breeze. I wish Microsoft easied things up, not complicated them, because I don't have time or attention to deal with them.
