New Outlook won't let me add my outlook email account. "This email account cannot be added to Outlook" Advanced setup does not work either?

Same here - thanks for that! After creating a new outlook account I could add my usual outlook.com account that I wasn't able to add before. I had spoken to the Microsoft helpdesk quite a few weeks back who, after about an hour of checks, said it was a beta version and to wait and try again in the future. Community wins!
the whole outlook acount is getting worse and worse. i also use my mail as an alias and as the primary adress. i dont want to switch an outlook as primairy it just shoudl work. it worked before so why doesnt it work now . when i open calender it opens new outlook and asks for account after few times clicking it away it comes up in the old one . the acount is added like before and calender works . now when i turn the switch to try new outlook it asks again to add an acount whiel my acount is already in it ????
oulook is just becoming worse and worse and its a complete bugfest . i see this already runs for a whiel s owhy isnt it just fixed already ?????? doesnt that say enough fo microsoft ???? fix this damn thing it should be an easy fix.
i bet this is the same problem that makes that the calender widget is not working. and that bug is there for a loooong time . but it just dont get fixed.
Having the same issue. My Microsoft account is identified by a GMail address. I *only* want to add my Microsoft Calendar to Outlook. I have gone through the full Microsoft login prompts, and it still gives the same error message. I uninstalled Outlook and went back to the Calendar app, with no intention of reverting back over; not until Microsoft can prove they have this fixed.
I was having this problem. By the way, I like Outlook new way more than the regular desktop Outlook. It easily syncs with Google account including calendar and contacts than the Outlook desktop app. It seems there that it is even unable to add a calendar event in Outlook and have it go to your Google Calendar.
But anyway, the solution that worked for me is on here (though not the first page where I saw this solution: New Outlook 365 on new Windows 11 - cannot add Outlook.com account - Microsoft Community :
"In other words your Office account is a Microsoft account with a Gmail address as the login.
The @outlook.com address should be the primary alias for the account."
In other words, you need to make the hotmail/outlook email the primary alias for the Microsoft account. Once I did that, no problem adding hotmail account to New Outlook!
