There has been a lot of discussion on this post since I first added a point, but now I have a fix for my problem which I will share with you in the hope that it helps you.

My problem was that I could not get the New Outlook to register my outlook email address. I need this address to be registered as I sync calendar and contacts using MS Exchange. I found the solution while fixing another outlook problem which was, if I sent an email using outlook and the recipient wanted to reply then their message would fail. The cause of this problem is that the return address supplied by outlook consisted of 10 numbers @outlook.com. A web search identified it as a know problem involving address aliases. Historical note - When you first registered an account with MS you would have used your normal email address (google, yahoo, etc.) MS would than have created for you an outlook email account and put your email address as an alias. The fix for this number problem was to remove the alias address. I did this and it fixed the return address problem. I then tried registering with the New Outlook and it all worked perfect. To change you alias config go to https://account.live.com/names/Manage.

    Best of luck.😎

MICROSOFT - I have identified what the problem is with regard to New Outlook and Outlook mail. Now get your finger out and do a proper solution to this and the 10 number outlook address

Reading some of the other posts and trying different options, it turns out my windows Hotmail account is not the same as a Outlook account which is needed in the first place. I made a new Outlook account and was then able to add my karoo account. Problem solved, thanks for all the help and input. I now have a Hotmail account, Gmail account, karoo account and a new Outlook account all working correctly.

The issue for me is the use of an alias. My @live.com address is only for MS services/logins. With outlook.com, Outlook Android, and the Win11 Mail App i've used my personal email as my MS account Primary Alias. This app on the other hand is essentially incompatible with Primary Aliases.

Same for me, I can get Google mail to work but not Outlook.com. My credentials are all correct as I can sign in to Outlook on the web and into my MS account. I also have same problem if I try a different computer.

Found the solution in the meantime: I had my own email address set as the primary address for the MS account; after making my @outlook.com address my primary in Microsoft account settings (Your Info - Sign-in preferences), signing out everywhere through Advanced security options and waiting a few hours, now everything works just fine.
