Using older versions of Outlook for Mac in business environments
Thank you, this pretty much sums up the whole affair.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?
My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.
AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.
Using older versions of Outlook for Mac in business environments

Thank you, this pretty much sums up the whole affair.
This brings me to tears and feels like bend over and take it **** Bob. This is not just about non functional software that they have failed to support but I made my decision to buy a Mac based on the fact that I could continue to use Outlook -- which I have been a long time and loyal 25+ year user. I have spend endless hours since May bouncing back and forth between Outlook and AOL browser access every time the ghosting appears. I spend 8+ hours a day sitting in front of my computer and email. I have lost emails, contacts and calendar events that I had archived for years. If they developed better operating systems for PCs perhaps I would have been able to make a different decisions but Apple is quickly outpacing PC on phones and computers. Browser based features and Outlook..com are still very lacking with features when compared to legacy Outlook -- suggesting we start using those tools as an alternative is a simply a joke and further evidence of their lack of interest in Mac users and understanding of the future of the computerized market. Or, perhaps, they know the future is short lived for them.
Here are the replies with the latest one first. So read from the bottom up.

Hello Chioma,
Thank you for the email. I am fine and hope you are too.
I find it ironic that MS appear to be in a hurry for a reply from me considering we have been waiting for a response since May last year in regard to this problem.
The most significant statement in your email is the admission, finally, that "the legacy version of Outlook for Mac ceased functioning in May 2023." Why was this not clearly announced by MS and the MS 365 subscription reduced due to a loss of a whole application that thousands of users where reliant upon? Currently, there is no official statement about this. MS Support acknowledge the existence of the problem but offer an inadequate work around of using New Outlook which is an inadequate and deficient app compared to Legacy Outlook.
The alternatives you suggest are also nonsensical. Especially the "Upgrade to your Outlook Version". MS365 users get an update every few weeks and I have tried Legacy Outlook after every update to see if the Yahoo problem has been resolved. We use Legacy Outlook because it does what it does and has been doing it for decades. We have tried the alternatives and find them all lacking in certain ways that effect our workflows.
The link you provided to the Feedback Hub app is useless. Its for Windows. We are Mac users. I will provide feedback to the feedback portal link you have provided but with the certainty that nothing will come of it considering that no action has been taken by MS in regard to what must be thousands of complaints about this problem on the MS forum.
Please appeal to your management to fix what must be a simple thing for a trillion Dollar company which Microsoft is. Stop playing some sort of company political game to phase out the Legacy Outlook app and replace it with New Outlook by ignoring your loyal customers. Alternatively be transparent and clear, kill Legacy Outlook now so that users know where they stand and we can move forward without MS in our lives.
Best Regards …………. Ronnie

I have received a further reply from MS. See below and read from the bottom up.

Hello Chioma,
Thanks for the email.
The response does nothing about the problem that thousands of Mac uses of Outlook have nor does it answer actual questions or suggestions I made.
It is disappointing that this is the response to an appeal directly to Satya Nadella to listen to customers and intervene into what is an unprofessional and ridiculous situation.
Best Regards …………. Ronnie

As I reported earlier, after emailing Mr. Nadella, I received “still under investigation” responses from level 3 support. Today, I received the email below from level 3 support. But first I remind everyone the issues are only related to Outlook on the Mac. None of this stupidness exists in either the Classic or New Outlook on Windows systems.

Am I mistaken. . . . Was the response from Nadella sent to ROCleaner.
Yes it was. But the response was not from Satya. It was in response to an email addressed to him and answered by an employee.
I believe RetiredGeek also had responses and phone calls following his email adressed to Satya Nadella.
If you lost emails you can read everyhing on the forum. It's all there and does not require that you retain all the emails you get.
