After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

When I opened my email today (Outlook for the Mac) I got a message saying Outlook was updating. After a few minutes I was able to access my email. Version now is 16.73.1 (23052000). Is this a fix??

I wish it was, RG, but it's not, sigh...

Lee, I did that - I used Mac mail thinking it would be OK for an interim period. Turned out to be a real mess because now I had 2 baskets, so to speak, my Outlook 365 and Mac mail both containing almost the same thing. But not only didn't they mirror each other, my Yahoo account often sent new mail only to Mac mail and folders wouldn't always sync between the two mail apps Over the course of several days the inconsistencies between the two (Yahoo mostly) only got worse and took sometime to unravel them both after I did the workaround I discussed earlier. Then I deleted all accounts in Mac mail. It was ugly. Proceed with caution.

Found this little nugget on Microsoft's TechCommunity page in response to someone posting about this issue. 🤦‍♀️

"Just as an FYI: I've been "talking" to a tech support rep for almost an hour. They said "It seems the latest version of Outlook is presenting some conflicts that can be interfering in the connection between the Outlook app and the third-party mail servers." However, I've tried earlier versions, and it's still not working."

I also submitted feedback through their Feedback Portal just in case anyone at Microsoft ever looks at it.

Guess I'll be giving Mail a try in the interim...

I started having the same issues being described and tried all the same types of troubleshooting. I am on an older mac, thus older OS Catalina (10.15.7), which has stopped my office updates at version 16.66.2. I agree that either YAHOO has an issue or that they made an update that Microsoft has not addresses yet. This is so frustrating and it wasn't that long ago when I dealt with the issue of not being able to add YAHOO account to outlook due to failures getting a new app password.
