New Outlook version: how to apply spell check

I was having an issue figuring out how the spell check worked. My coworker said when you are in a New Message window, and the Message tab, at the top far right of the ribbon, click the "..." and go down to Editor, and then Editor Settings.

At first, when I tried this, Editor was greyed out, but it might have been because I was already in the middle of composing an email. When I opened a new message I was able to get to the Editor Settings.

All the settings were already enabled, but it seemed I had to open the Editor settings at least once for it to "activate" Now spell check works in my Outlook.

Right-clicking a misspelled word won't work. You have to left-click the word to see the spell-check suggestions.

In reference to this doc, (New Outlook for Windows Preview (office.com)) Rich editing, spelling, and auto complete suggestions powered by Microsoft Editor were automatically added to the New Outlook version. There is no specific setting to turn this on. We do apologize if we are not able to meet your requirements.

However, the new Outlook is still a work in progress. Is this still a "work in progress" a year later? My spellcheck in emails in New Outlook (Mac) no longer works, neither does the Translate add- on. Documents from the "Recent" Word folder are often inaccessible.

I was getting help from a senior adviser but still needed more help - it was excruciating setting up the original call. Now despite numerous emails, he no longer responds.

This problem has been known and reported for 13 or more months. Yet it's not fixed. It surely is an easily identifiable fix, and one that would be easy to apply. I've been using Outlook for years with its formerly excellent spell-check and replace a word tool. Why isn't this screw-up fixed? When I was a business executive, I would have long ago fired people for not getting it fixed NOW.

Yea it underlines the incorrectly spelled word in red but does NOT give you the options for the correct spelling. This is greatly annoying so I have to go back to the old version.

I guess no one will know why Outlook emails don't automatically spell check when the Send button is used. I appears that this is no longer an option. It should be. Distaste for MS products, especially MS Office, is growing due to the fact that MS changes things as if the changes were requirements to give employees something to do.

The two basics of job is to avoid fixing something that is not broken and, keep it simple (easy), stupid.
