No 'SAVE AS' option for attachments in new Outlook desktop app

Dear All,

Outlook offered to switch my application to the new Outlook version (there is a switch item below the window close button).

It looks like the in-browser version and works better than the former, but it has a missing option in the attachments drop-down menu, called 'save as'.

We get a lot of documents in our emails, which should be saved in different projects' locations on a local hard drive. The in-browser version and the former desktop app have this option but this new app does not.

How can I add this function back again?

    I still don't have a way to save attachments. With an Office file (like Word) I get these four selections:

    Preview: Shows it to me but I can't edit it.

    Edit in Browser: I can edit it in whichever browser I'm using. When I go to the File tab to save it, I see this:

    Save as: Saves a copy online. I don't know where it goes.

    Download a copy: Might go to my Downloads folder, I can't tell.

    (skipping PDF and ODT options)

    At the bottom of the tab, to taunt me, is this:

    Edit in Word Desktop App: Lets me know it's being uploaded to OneDrive. When it opens, I have the opportunity to save it... to OneDrive. Where do things saved to OneDrive go? As far as I can tell Outlook wishes it into the cornfield.

    Save to OneDrive: I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT GOES.

    With a non-office file I get this:

    Preview: I see it in a black box. It cannot be opened or edited. (I get no option to open in Photoshop)

    Save to OneDrive: WHERE DOES IT GO??? INTO THE CORNFIELD.

    I'm using Outlook on my desktop.

    He's talking about changing web browser settings (Chrome, Edge, Firefox etc.)

    For Chrome You can navigate to Settings -> Downloads -> "Ask where to save each file before downloading"

    I'm not sure about other browsers, but I have to assume it is a similar fix.

    Thanks for that.

    I also found other deficiencies with the "New Outlook", such as its handling of time zones (I change time zones once a week and it wasn't automatically adjusting in the Calendar, even though my PC was), so I guess I'll wait until the solution is fully baked to even try it again.

    Good to know something as simple as Save As is being addressed, and/or can be worked around.

    As a side note, it looks like MS has begun to roll out the feature, which could explain the inconsistency:
