My account has been blocked for some reason.

When trying the:

Enter your phone number and we'll send you a security code We'll send a verification code in a text message. This helps us eliminate spam – we won't give out your number. The code will expire in about 10 minutes.

I keep getting: We cannot send a text message to this number.

Tried different mobile numbers, tried from different browsers and PCs Have tried forgetten password, but still keep getting my account blocked.

How do I get the code?

I see lots of other post about this, but none have worked for me.

Same issue here since last week.

I've talked for hours and hours with many different chat operators. Heard tons of excuses. In the end they always end on the same note. Begging you to either fill out an account reinstatement form and/or wait 24~48 hours before attempting again.

Not 1 operator who actually managed to give a useful answer. Even spoke to one of the operators by phone, some person from Nigeria who called me back from the official Microsoft Phone number. He explained to me that its all AI and that the entire process is Automated, that they cannot interfere manually.

Long story short, it looks like Microsoft has messed up big here and has not addressed the issue yet themselves officially. And my hopes of getting back into my account are basically gone.

    Here's what I tried so far;

    1. Wait 24 hours (Done twice as suggested by 2 different operators
    2. Resetted my password (Done successfully)
    3. Wait 48 hours (Done once as suggested by another operator)
    4. Fill out an account reinstatement form (Done 3 times as suggested by 3 different operators, with different reasons)
    5. Tried other networks (Home, Cellular, Office)
    6. Tried different browsers (Chrome, Edge etc.)
    7. Tried other phone numbers (Family / CoWorkers)
    8. Tried via Skype and Onedrive

Hi! Just replying because this just happened to me! I tried it all and if you are using chrome I believe that is the problem. Use Microsoft Edge to do it and it worked!

    Hope this helps !

    Hi dear Ridley,

    1. Try again after restarting your phone to send the SMS.
    2. Check if your phone or messaging app needs any software upgrades and install them if they are available.

"We’ll only send a text message to the primary phone number on your Microsoft account. If your Microsoft account doesn't have a cell number associated with it, we'll contact you using one of the methods you've provided—your email address, for example. You can change your contact information on the Microsoft account site."

Please refer to this article which is related to your problem:
