My account has been blocked for some reason.

When trying the:

Enter your phone number and we'll send you a security code We'll send a verification code in a text message. This helps us eliminate spam – we won't give out your number. The code will expire in about 10 minutes.

I keep getting: We cannot send a text message to this number.

Tried different mobile numbers, tried from different browsers and PCs Have tried forgetten password, but still keep getting my account blocked.

How do I get the code?

I see lots of other post about this, but none have worked for me.

    Hello,

    Tried all using and Edge browser but still unsuccessful and so sick on the "We cannot send a text message to this number". Could also be a system maintenance or down on Micrsoft's end??? Any other help would be appreciated at this moment as I really need to access my account 😫.

    A live chat would likely be the best if they had one, coz their number is unreachable either. (800) 865-9408

    I'M WRITING THIS IN CAPITAL LETTERS BECASUE THIS TOOK ME AGES TO WORK OUT:

    IF YOU ARE GETTING THE: "WE CANNOT SEND A TEXT MESSAGE TO THIS NUMBER" TRY GOING THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS ON YOUR PHONES INTERNET AND DOING THE EXACT SAME THING.

    I TRIED USING MY LAPTOP TO SEND THE NUMBER TO MY PHONE WHICH NEVER WORKED, AS SOON AS I WENT THROUGH THE SAME PROCESS ON MY PHONES INTERNET BROWSER, IT DID.

    HOPE THIS AT LEAST HELPS ONE PERSON OUT THERE!!

    Hi Janbaz, I am having the same issue as Ridley here. I got a Notification from my Outlook app saying I needed to sign in again, and when I did, it said that my account (******@outlook.com) has been locked due to unspecified activity that apparently violates Microsoft Services Agreement - and there's no indication whatsoever from Microsoft what that activity might be so I'm left bewildered. When I try to unlock my account, I am asked to enter my phone number and click on "Send Code." When I click on Send Code, I get the same "We cannot send a text message to this number" message, and there's no way forward after that. Even if I send a code to my recovery accounts, I eventually get routed to this place.

    I have tried sending the code to my own phone number in Pakistan and also to my friends in the United States. In the case of my US friends, when I enter their number, the "We cannot send a text message to this number" message does not come up; however, they do not receive the Code either. I have also verified that my phone is fine and is receiving texts from other contacts.

    Please help us out - clearly I am not the only person having this error.

    Just as dan_321 says, I have confirmed that I was able to send a text message once I used the Edge desktop browser. Had tried in Chrome to no avail and was about to call it quits.
