Outlook Navigation Pane moved from bottom to left

Did you try to implement the fix I posted in this thread? It does not require admin on the system. Mine has been great for months since I made the change.

I FOUND A SOLUTION!!! This is not mine but I have tried it and it worked for me. I do not have admin on my work system and it still worked. I have not rebooted yet to see if it will persist without admin.

1. Open Regedit
2. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\ExperimentEcs\Overrides
3. If the string "Microsoft.Office.Outlook.Hub.HubBar"does not exist, create it by right clicking on Overrides in the left pane and selecting New->String Value
4. Paste "Microsoft.Office.Outlook.Hub.HubBar" in the new entry that appears in the right pane
5. Double-click the new name
6. Enter "False" in the Value data field.
7. Click OK
8. Close and restart Outlook
9. Voilà (pop culture reference, "which is short for, and then I found out")

I try to avoid regedits, and I'm glad I did. The solution is actually an obscure check box in the Options menu. Options > Advanced > UNcheck the 'Show Apps in Outlook' and restart.

Same. Who made this decision? This is absolute garbage!

I'm not able to get the Navigation menu to the lower left like I want it. I followed the steps shared and here's what happened:

1. Started in Outlook normal. Navigation menu was in upper left. I want it at the bottom where it has always been. The Try It Now toggle was in the Off position.

2. I opened Outlook in Safe mode. The Navigation menu was at the bottom. Good.
3. I closed Safe mode and opened Outlook normal and the Navigation menu was in upper left.
4. I closed and opened in Safe mode again and now the Navigation menu is in the upper left and has been there ever since, regardless of how many times I close and re-open or adjust the Try It Now toggle.

Confusing and frustrating. Changing the location of buttons I use 100 times per day for the last 20 years is not cool.

UPDATE: After restarting my PC, I opened Outlook in Safe mode and the Navigation buttons are back at the bottom. I haven't tried re-opening in normal mode yet; I'm just going to work in Safe mode for now.

(Running Version 2202 Build 16.0.14931.20128 64-bit)

Opening in Safe, closing, and then re-opening Outlook normally worked.

But two things:

• The width of the Compact Navigation(which I prefer) is restricted to the left column, so it only displays four no matter how many you prefer
• I'm concerned that is is a temporary solution. Can't we have a Navigation Panel option for side or bottom?
