MS Outlook signatures disappeared or missing after Office update

After a recent update the format for the signature creator and editor has changed. I have lost access to all my previous signatures and when I try and recreate a signature with the same name, I am advised it already exists and cannot be over written. How can I access or delete my old signatures?

    Hi, Nedda,

    I did not get that error message, but I'm thinking that if your signature is relatively easy to re-do (or maybe to copy-off and re-add), then getting rid of the old signature and re-adding one is not such a bad option.

    I would ask you to check to see if you selected (highlighted) the specific signature name for the account to which you were assigning it. It may have given that message if none of the signatures in the list are selected.

    I am running Outlook 2019. Your fix sounded like it would be safer than editing the registry, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

    I tried following your instructions to edit the 3 file names associated with each of my old signatures. I immediately got this error message when trying to save the very first signature:

    "If you rename this file it will no longer belong to the folder 'foldername for that signature.' To rename it safely, save it with a new name and then delete the folder 'foldername for that signature.'"

    Did you run into this problem and if so, what did you do and what was the result?

    I am running Outlook 2019, not Office 365.

    When I go into the registry to turn off the roaming of signatures, the Value Name shown below is not there, so I can't turn it off.

    Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER

    Key Path: Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Setup\

    Value Name: DisableRoamingSignaturesTemporaryToggle

    Value Type: 1

    I really want to disable the roaming feature, as some of my signature need to be edited for new links and I have no use at all for this feature.

    Is there some other way I can get my signature back and edit them?

    I've read that I can revert Outlook to an earlier version number, but I don't know where I can find the earlier version number.

    I have already turned off all updates.

    Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

    You have to create that registry entry - it isn't already there.
