right click paste suddenly stopped working in outlook email

Normally I can use my mouse to highlight, copy and paste text and URL's from just about anywhere (files on my computer or online) and paste into the body of an email in outlook - have been doing this without any issue for more than five years.

Now, suddenly and without any changes made by me and without any obvious explanation -or solution- I can only copy and paste ONE time after a fresh sign in. Thereafter I cannot copy and paste with my mouse - when I attempt to, a different window opens, it has a paste option in the menu but it does nothing other than close the window.

I can paste with the mouse in the to, cc and subject fields as usual / normal - only the body of the email is affected.

I can paste into the body of the email from the keyboard with Ctr-V - please don't answer with that as the solution - it isn't, it's an alternative.

I am looking to fix the mouse problem - it is how I work and want to continue to work.

p.s. Instructions here suggest inserting a screen shot - made two, tried inserting / uploading here but ... that appears not to work either - I don't see any screen shots here do you ?

    Here's a workaround for Windows 365 Outlook (desktop, not in browser) that I figured out:

    Double-click (left mouse button), then right click on the gray box. It will let you paste.

    Amen.. F--U--C--K THE C""U""N""T""S at microsoft for F--U----C--K--ING UP COPY/PASTE. My god, it takes a special kind of as^^ho^^le to allow that to happen...

    Hello Mike, this is the solution that finally worked for me out of all presented here.

    To understand what ELI GAV means you need to change the layout of the options bar.

    On completely the far right side of the menu/options bar, there is a drop-down like a little v.

    Left-click on it and in the drop-down options choose Layout--Simplified ribbon

    Now you will see the three dots he is referring to ...

    Left-click the dots and select T and choose simple document.

    When I go back now and look at the option under the 3 dots ... and click T it says Switch to HTML

    So apparently it is a choice between a document text or HTML which is the standard markup language for Web pages.

    I now have my right-click/paste back.

    I was in Simplified Ribbon, I have the 3 dots ..., but I don't see "T" to switch to HTML

    Can you help me/us find the 'T"?

    Under the 3 dots ...., I have Block, Rules, Meeting, Quick Steps, Snooze, Assign Policy, Discover Groups, Customize (don't see anything in Customize)
