right click paste suddenly stopped working in outlook email

Normally I can use my mouse to highlight, copy and paste text and URL's from just about anywhere (files on my computer or online) and paste into the body of an email in outlook - have been doing this without any issue for more than five years.

Now, suddenly and without any changes made by me and without any obvious explanation -or solution- I can only copy and paste ONE time after a fresh sign in. Thereafter I cannot copy and paste with my mouse - when I attempt to, a different window opens, it has a paste option in the menu but it does nothing other than close the window.

I can paste with the mouse in the to, cc and subject fields as usual / normal - only the body of the email is affected.

I can paste into the body of the email from the keyboard with Ctr-V - please don't answer with that as the solution - it isn't, it's an alternative.

I am looking to fix the mouse problem - it is how I work and want to continue to work.

Thanks

p.s. Instructions here suggest inserting a screen shot - made two, tried inserting / uploading here but ... that appears not to work either - I don't see any screen shots here do you ?

    Hello,

I am the original poster, and I still haven't been able to fix this issue. I do not have a clipboard anywhere either and I have searched "clipboard" in Outlook to no avail. I am using Firefox as well. Perhaps it is a Firefox issue? I am going to continue to research. Fingers crossed! If I discover anything, I will follow up.

It's a Microsoft error that Microsoft hasn't fixed and doesn't care to.

In Firefox, at least, that lock symbol is about security. There is no setting on the pop-up menu related to clipboard, and the lock symbol doesn't change to "unlock."

I use Chrome and when I left click on the lock, I am able to turn on or off the clipboard. You may have to find the clipboard setting another way.

I agree. You need to find where you can turn on the clipboard, it varies per search engine. For some the lock symbol gets you access, for others the extensions (puzzle piece) symbol will get you to a place where you can turn on the sharing's clipboard. I noticed Microsoft made changes to the clipboard in Outlook because it suddenly started popping up in the middle of of me typing an email. That's is when the copy paste quit working. So I knew it was something to do with the clipboard and eventually found it had been turned off. I found clipboard within my own laptop and it was on. However, the sharing clipboard online was shut off. So that is what needs to be turned back on since that is where everything copied or cut is sent. Once turned on the paste will work again.
